Playful experiences for professionals. 🥸 Talk to me about intelligent, fun games that make events more awesome #teambuilding
Here's a photo from a game I ran last week at Crissy Field in San Francisco. When I look at this pic, I see the smiling players and I remember how fun this game was. We were playing a tricky math game and the brilliant engineers in the group were SO COMPETENT that something unprecedented happened. In this elimination-based quick-fire challenge, it usually comes down to 2, maybe 3 players in the final round. We eliminated 3 of the original 18 players... and then ALL FIFTEEN of the remaining players made it to the end of the game and tied for the win! I hope they believed me when I told them with all sincerity that I have never seen any group achieve this before. It made me grateful to have a tie-break mechanism in place: event planners know, you MUST always have a back-up plan! I have run games before without having a tie-break ready to go and it is no fun. This time, we knew just what to do and we were able to keep the event in flow. If anyone knows the old (drinking) game "Fizz Buzz," you might understand what happened and why the final 15 stayed in the game all the way to the end. This talented team works for a technology company and I hope you use their platform, because it's a stone-cold smarty party up in this place. I wish I could say that is the first thing that springs to mind when I look at this photo, but the truth is, that happy memory has to share space with negative self-talk like "I don't like the way that shirt looks on my body" or "I need a haircut, I look so shaggy and wild". This is not a solicitation for compliments (I'll just assume you were about to shower me with them) but rather intended as a reminder that I have much to be grateful for: I get to do work that is meaningful to me, on a beautiful day, at a gorgeous location (check out the magic hour lighting at the Golden Gate Bridge in the comments!) and I get to share the spirit of play and positivity with clients who love our services. That should be the headline: my personal vanity takes up valuable space from celebration and gratitude, and I don't appreciate it, so I will show it the door. On this #MondaywithMyles I am wishing all of you peaceful feelings and kind, forgiving inner monologues when you look at photos of yourself. May you be blessed with a team as sharp and playful as this one! I see great things for their group.

Warrior and a Member of a Team | US Army Officer x Dept of Defense Leader | DoD x Industry | Weapons Acquisition x People | Communications x Engineering | CPT Price x H | Science & Technology x Arts | #SundayThoughts
Got a hot take for y’all this morning that I have a feeling is going to ruffle feathers in the #Innovation community. But if feathers get ruffled among innovators by reading a dissenting opinion, well, I rest my case on the entire thing. So I have mixed views on this. On the one hand, it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what it is we do in our - the #Army’s and industry’s - lines of work. On the other, something about #SXSW and the massive #DoD participation in it has always rubbed me the wrong way, honestly. SXSW has far surpassed its original aim of being a meeting of minds to discuss non-mainstream arts and ideas. It has long become the very thing it was created to counterbalance - all with an utterly absurd price tag. The conference itself is easily in the thousands for a pass, and hotels in Austin during that time - forget about it. I have the same reaction to SXSW content that I do when I watch those Disney World wedding specials on tv: So. Much. MONEY. Just garish displays of MONEY it takes to participate in something like that. And because of the enormous expense of SXSW, it becomes a caste system. You either can afford it or finagle work to pay for it, or you don’t go. And if you don’t go, well, good luck ever mattering in this community…. Is that really the vibe that SXSW should be aiming for?! Was the snobby exclusivity of what SXSW has become really what they had in mind for an event that was supposed to be a salon for the alternative? Was the fruitless spectacle - the innovation theatre of it all - really what they had in mind for an event that was supposed to be a meaningful exchange of new ideas? While this whole announcement is giving Project Maven vibes that I thought we had outgrown as a society, I’m not sure this is the worst thing. The Army and the #defense industry absolutely should be present in rooms where ideas are being shared. We absolutely should be engaging in public discourse and breaking down the walls that apparently still exist between a population and its protectors. The #recruiting crisis will certainly continue if we don’t look for ways to find common ground with the community. I’m just not sure SXSW - which was never an event so much as an enabler of our worst tendencies as an agency and industry - was the right venue for that engagement.

Leadership lessons from 12 year olds at a concert: 1. Always have a buddy. Don’t go alone anywhere in the venue or life. It’s more fun to be with someone and you never know what dangers are out there. 2. When circumstances are challenging, get creative. We waited outside in the cold Kansas weather for 90 minutes. Playing games helped pass the time when it felt like it was going to be FOREVER. 3. Eat the snacks. Half the fun in life is the extras along the way- the popcorn and pretzels at concerts or the time with family and friends in life. 4. Police up your area. Before we left the venue, we picked up all our trash. In life, we can’t leave our messes for others to clean up. We have to police our own area. Such good lessons to learn!

Empowering Corporate Professionals and Entrepreneurs to Achieve Peak Performance, Elevate Relationships, Enhance Mental Wellbeing and Boost Happiness 🌱Life & Success Coaching ►Counseling ►Healing ►Personal Growth
Reflecting on this striking observation from New Year's Eve in Paris, it's both amusing and thought-provoking to consider our relationship with technology. While 1 million people gathered to witness the grandeur of the fireworks on the Champs Élysées, a majority experienced it through their screens. It's a modern paradox: technology, intended to connect us, can sometimes create barriers to genuine, in-the-moment experiences. As a life and relationship coach, I see this as a gentle reminder of the importance of being present. While technology can enhance our lives, it's crucial to remember the value of direct experience and human connection. Let's not forget the power of being truly present in our interactions and experiences. It's in these moments, unfiltered and real, that we create memories that resonate deeply within us. This video, ironically filmed and shared via technology, serves as a thought-provoking reminder of this balance. #Mindfulness #HumanConnection #relationshipadvice #relationshipcoaching
Last night, 1 million persons celebrated New Year’s Eve on the Champs Élysées in Paris (I counted them). Out of these, 4 persons kissed and wished each other a happy new year while watching the beautiful fireworks, whereas 999996 idiots watched the fireworks through a 15cm screen instead of enjoying the moment and making actual memories using their brain. There are no limits to human stupidity and sometimes technology helps create more stupidity through sheep herding. Watch the video below, which was not I who filmed it.
