How consistency beats intensity? It's crucial to understand the importance of being consistent in preparing for the exam. Consistency allows you to maintain your efforts over an extended period however intensity can lead to burnout, making it difficult to sustain your actions. Consistent actions help form habits of studying regularly, which become automatic and require less effort over time. Intense efforts do not give you the opportunity to build these habits. Consistency allows for continuous learning and improvement, as you can adjust and refine your approach over time and Intensity do not provide the same opportunity for learning and adaptation. This gives you a cushion before your exam by completing your syllabus in advance and engaging in practicing and refining your concepts So start early and stay focused! Portion is completed one month prior, now how to prepare for the exam?? 1. Give 2 hours for learning & revising the notebook, going through the formulas, summary learning, revising all the concepts in a particular chapter. 2. Try complete 1 revision note/ 1 assignment in a day It is important that you solve difficult sums only. For easier sums - read the question, in the mind think of the steps and then check the steps (don't solve the entire sum on paper) 3. Solve difficult sums directly on MS Word and keep a pen and paper aside to roughly write down steps of easier sums 3. 15 days, focus on paper solving. 2 paper of theory and 1 paper of practical 4. Most importantly, note down your mistakes to know where you're making mistakes 5. Focus more on difficult chapters, which could for eg. Markov Jump & Time Series from CS2, Black Scholes from CM2. Based on the difficulty level of the student, it is individual call 6. Keep a stopwatch with you to check how much time you're taking for each sum. It is advisable to give 2 minutes per mark 7. At the end, just don't get panic, you have done all you had to! Excited to share that I've successfully cleared the NISM Series XV : Research Analyst Exam 🎉 The key takeaway from this journey is the importance of a comprehensive understanding of : Terminology in equity and debt market, Fundamentals of research, Economic analysis ,Industry analysis, Company analysis: Qualitative and Quantitative, Corporate action, Valuation principles, Fundamentals of risk and return, Legal and Regulatory environment ✅ Approximately 20-30% of the paper was straightforward, but the remaining portions demanded a deep dive into the study material. Here’s a brief process that will guide you with the registration process, exam structure and key aspects : - Register for an exam on the NISM website by creating an account, submitting documents, and waiting for approval, usually within three days. Once approved, log in, select a test venue, date, and time, and pay the INR 1500 exam fee to finalize your registration. - The exam comprises 94 multiple-choice questions, 92 questions of 1 mark and 2 case studies of 4 marks with 0.25 as negative marking for each wrong question. The exam is Computer-based test (CBT) conducted online at the selected centre. - Successful candidates earn the NISM Series XV: Research Analyst Certification valid for a 3-Year period, requiring renewal through continuing professional education (CPE) program.
