As an advertising student, I've always loved working on topical/event-related campaigns. The emotional touch, stunning visual content and killer insights excited me. 5 years into the industry and I still love all those things, but there's something that is more crucial to content, media and the larger marketing landscape. It's truth. It's honesty. It's the choice you make to view things as grey and not black vs white. As I approach my 1-year anniversary at Cirkla Inc., my biggest learning is that you cannot use cancel culture as a way to create impactful campaigns. You may get more clicks and views, but your mission might not be served. As a brand in its early stage, we've always made sure that we stay away from greenwashing, cancel culture and blaming plastic for every single climate change crisis. As we approach Earth Day and ruminate about this year's theme, "Planet Vs Plastics", we all individually have to make a choice. We either diss plastic without understanding its omnipresence, OR we delve deeper and acknowledge that for critical industries like pharma, healthcare etc. plastic is still very important. BUT there is scope to do better in so many spaces. I believe that imperfect, nuanced, collaborative climate action is the way towards reversing climate change. Our Earth Day campaign is a visualization of Cirkla as a brand: honest, ethical and optimistic. For the planet, for the people, and for brands. This is just the beginning. Keep watching this space for more 💚 EARTHDAY.ORG EARTHDAY.ORG - India #GoCirkla #EarthDay2024 #PlanetVsPlastics #Cirkla
The plastic story isn’t black and white. Plastic's versatility makes it a valuable and powerful material, but its environmental impact, specifically that of single-use plastics, can't be ignored. The $447 billion plastic packaging industry needs a revolution. That’s where Cirkla comes in. At Cirkla, we help brands move away from single-use plastics and achieve their sustainable packaging goals. Stay tuned to see how we're changing the single-use plastic narrative. When it comes to #plastic, most of our society see it as a problem material - but what if, that all along, it's actually been viable for a #sustainable future? Researchers from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Institute actually found that we live in a world where, even though we can change how we use plastic, we cannot do without it. Advancements and collaborations between plastic manufacturers and environmental services are helping the progression towards a circular economy for plastic, keeping it in use than go to waste. At Manupackaging UK, we are future-proofing our products by looking at ways we can help our customers reduce their plastic use, and how we can incorporate more recycled plastic into new products - not just our own - to build a more sustainable feature. As a world, we need to make #recycling the new normal - even though we may only be able to recycle single-use plastics a limited number of times (until their material properties are no longer fit for use), as we already know, they can still be recycled into other products - even polyethylene! Old #Manustar film can be recycled into a variety of practical, long-standing products such as piping, car interiors, new packaging... Even new wheelie bins to put more recycling into! What do you think a balance between plastic reduction and sustainable use of recyclable plastics could look like? Let us know! #sustainableplastic #reduceplastic #recycledplastic #futureproofing #sustainabilityjourney #sustainablepackaging #ManupackagingUK #CloseTheLoop
