SOSF Headstart is, a transformative program aimed at uplifting vulnerable and low-income populations in Africa's informal economy through sector-based entrepreneurship and livelihood initiatives. Our first stop is Agriculture as the largest employer of labour, contributor to Africa’s GDP and concentration of nano, micro and small enterprises! Phase 1: Enhancing Productivity of our Farmers. In Phase 1, our focus is on empowering farmers to produce high-value agricultural produce. Our first focus is cassava, as an important staple crop for Africa with numerous industrial applications. Through technical, cooperative and business skills capacity development, access to critical inputs, and funding support, we aim to enhance overall yields (productivity), thereby improving farmer income and livelihoods. Phase 2: Industrializing Africa through Agriculture Building on the success of Phase 1, Phase 2 of the program is dedicated to processing primary agricultural produce into finished goods, thus moving up the value chain and contributing to the industrialization of agriculture across the continent. This week, I joined the IBMA conference about ‘Reshaping Agribusiness Models’ for building prosperous rural communities. (In Convention Center Kigali, on behalf of my Africa Business Coaching) * Inspiring week It was a very inspiring week, with discussions about how to achieve faster sustainable and profitable growth in rural areas. * Community-based business model The agricultural communities can play a crucial role in this. PARM has kicked off the pilot project of the #Institutionalization of #Agrisk management in #BurkinaFaso 🇧🇫 and #Madagascar 🇲🇬, aiming to integrate agricultural risk management into universities curricula and #privatesector practices. Key activities to develop training materials will be implemented by the selected organizations in each country. In Madagascar, the Agricultural Support and Professional Training Center #CAFPA, the Malagasy Mutualist Savings and Credit Company #SMMEC, the University of #Itasy and the Higher School of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Antananarivo, are the chosen entities.
