Political commitment is key to improving gender mainstreaming in social assistance policy.    Here are 4 things governments can consider:    1️⃣Gender mainstreaming beyond gender neutrality.  2️⃣Strengthening gender-responsive financing  3️⃣Training on social assistance and gender  4️⃣Engaging external gender advocates and experts.    Read our new report for all the recommendations to strengthen the gender mainstreaming in reform processes in VietNam⬇  https://lnkd.in/e-vj_2ku UNICEF Viet Nam Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Nicholas Mathers, PhD, Mathilde Van Drooghenbroeck, PhD, Eszter Timar

I agree with the statement. Political commitment is essential to drive gender mainstreaming in social assistance policy, ensuring that gender equality is integrated into all aspects of policy design, implementation, and evaluation. It requires a strong political will to: 1. Address gender disparities and discrimination 2. Allocate resources and budget for gender-sensitive programs 3. Establish accountability mechanisms 4. Foster a culture of gender equality within institutions Without political commitment, gender mainstreaming efforts may face challenges in achieving meaningful impact. Leaders and policymakers must champion gender equality and inclusivity to create a more just and equitable society for all.
