43.4 million children. In the time it took to post, this figure is already out of date. This isn’t just a number – these are children. Torn from their homes by war and natural disasters, millions of children around the world are living in limbo, seeking refuge, safety and protection with their families. In Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and more, we’re supporting children who have been displaced and helping them grow up safe from violence. All displaced children deserve a fair chance in life, to be given the opportunity to reach their full potential, and for their voices and stories to be heard and included in solutions. #WorldRefugeeDay Sources: Australian Bureau of Statistics | ACT Government

What will happen when there will be a cease-fire in Palestine? Will the parents of the babies come back? Will the trauma of losing houses heal? Will the wounded people recover? Will the illegal occupation end? Will the hostages be set free? Where will the homeless go? Who will look after the newborns? Who will take care of the paralyzed people? Who will rebuild the shattered infrastructure? Who will provide them with clean water and healthcare? Do you have an answer? I think none of us have the answer. P.S. Do you think a two-state solution is the only solution to this war? #ArmiesToAqsa #AlAqsaCallsArmies

More than 3,195 children have been reported killed in Gaza. The number of children killed in just three weeks is is more than the number killed in armed conflict globally – across more than 20 countries – over the course of a whole year, for the last three years! Save the Children Internationals press release summarizes the situation in Palestine. It is reported that at least 6,360 children in Gaza have also been injured. The risk of children dying from injuries has never been higher. Children are paying the highest price for a conflict they have no part in. Save the Children Country Director in the occupied Palestinian territory Jason Lee, said: ”A ceasefire is the only way to ensure their safety. The international community must put people before politics – every day spent debating is leaving children killed and injured. Children must be protected at all times” I am honored to work for #savethechildren - An organisation that always puts childrens safety and protection first! #gaza Rädda Barnen / Save the Children Sweden #protect #safety #palestine #humanrights #deathtoll #ceasefire

ps://https://lnkd.in/di6EQAdT The persistent and compounding crises in Lebanon are exacting a steadily devastating toll on children nationwide, increasingly stripping them of their education and forcing many into child labour. Desperate parents, grappling with ever-dwindling resources, are forced into a heart-wrenching struggle to keep their families afloat amidst the unrelenting challenges. The deprivations and uncertainty are leaving children hungry, anxious or depressed. The emotional burden is particularly alarming among children exposed to the recent military escalation on the country’s southern borders, and among Palestinian refugees – many of whom have relatives in Gaza. A UNICEF rapid assessment, conducted in November 2023,1 reveals further deterioration in almost every aspect of children’s lives, as the four-year-long crisis shows no sign of abating.

My latest article! More than 23 000 people killed in Israel's attacks in Gaza. Of the 23 000 Palestinians killed, 9 000 of them were children along with hundreds remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings with little chance of survival, the total number of child deaths is likely to exceed 10,000. At least 6 700 women were killed and another 6 300 other were injured. Since 7 October more than 59 000 Palestinians were injured, more than 8 600 of them being children. Read it to learn more!

In Sudan, children are targeted as child soldiers for many reasons. According to Arab News, reasons include children’s “limited ability to assess risks, feelings of invulnerability, and shortsightedness, according to experts.” We are heartbroken that at a time when kids should be using those very traits to explore, connect with friends, grow, and learn, their youthfulness is being exploited so tragically. Help us meet our goal to rescue 51 children from the Sudan conflict, and restore hope for kids affected by war. Our anti-trafficking network is ready to house, educate, protect and nourish these young souls. To offer safety and support to a child in Sudan costs $2,500 annually—approximately $208 per month, $48 a week, or just $6 a day. Hi Network, on May 10, 2024, several cities in northern Afghanistan were hit by severe flooding, resulting in the loss of over 360 lives and leaving a vast majority of residents injured and homeless. The flood, with a return period of 50 years, washed away residential areas, exacerbating an already dire situation. The affected region is in urgent need of assistance and first aid, but the local authorities have failed to respond adequately. The current government has dismissed experienced staff and replaced them with unskilled (hitman) personnel, unable to conduct effective rescue operations. Instead, they focus on oppressive tactics, contributing to further suffering among the populace. In response to this crisis, it is crucial for international organizations, neighboring countries, and humanitarian groups to exert pressure on the Taliban to abandon their oppressive and fascist practices and transition towards a more inclusive and representative government that encompasses all ethnic groups. This shift is essential to create a conducive environment for other groups and movements to address the challenging circumstances faced by the affected population.
