Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marked the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. This occurred a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. “In this week’s episode of Breaking History, Gordon and I review the deeper Rhodes Scholar roots of NATO with a look to current global events. We did a pretty fair job tying together a variety of themes ranging from King Edward VII’s role in setting the stage for Sykes Picot pre-WWI, to Edward VII’s direct role in orchestrating World War 1 itself an the role of the Cecil-Russell family in bringing an array of think tanks online centering around the Rhodes Trust network, and Fabian Society which worked closely together to establish the League of Nations. When that fascist world-government plan failed, we discuss how this same network murdered a number of heroic political figures during the 1920s in order to make a second and then 3rd and then fourth attempt at establishing an Anglo-American New World Order culminating in the rise of NATO. How the multipolar alliance is combating this moral virus today is also discussed at some length”.

Another book to add to my reading list! Looking forward to this!
Im thrilled to finally announce that The University Press of Kansas published my book, The Glone and Anchor Men: US Marines and American Manhood in the Great War Era" this weekend. Feels amazing to finally have this book in my hands. if you want it in your hands, too, check the link below. But first a brief description: "Throughout the World War I era, the United States Marine Corps’ efforts to promote their culture of manliness directed attention away from the dangers of war and military life and towards its potential benefits. As a military institution that valued physical, mental, and moral strength, the Marines created an alluring image for young men seeking a rite of passage into manhood. Within this context, the potential for danger and death only enhanced the appeal. Mark Ryland Folse’s The Globe and Anchor Men offers the first in-depth history of masculinity in the Marine Corps during the World War I era. White manhood and manliness constituted the lens through which the Marines of this period saw themselves, how they wanted the public to see them, and what they believed they contributed to society. Their highly gendered culture helped foster positive public relations, allowing Marines to successfully promote the potential benefits of becoming a Marine over the costs, even in times of war. By examining how the Marine Corps’ culture, public image, and esteem within U.S. society evolved, Folse demonstrates that the American people measured the Marines’ usefulness not only in terms of military readiness but also according to standards of manliness set by popular culture and by Marines themselves. The Marines claimed to recruit the finest specimens of American manhood and make them even better: strong, brave, and morally upright. They claimed the Marine would be a man with a wealth of travel and experience behind him. He would be a proud and worthy citizen who had earned respect through his years of service, training, and struggle in the Marine Corps. Becoming a Marine benefited the man, and the new Marine benefited the nation. As men became manlier, the country did, too." https://lnkd.in/gZQkedjf #marinecorps #history #gender #ww1

As we say at Ford, be curious! D-Day - Salute to all of the armed services. We often forget the back stories as we celebrate the great day that freed Europe. The African American soldiers were there on the beaches of Omaha and Normandy. They were in support roles, though vital weren't allowed in combat units because of unjust laws that prohibited them from doing so. During WWII, more than 2.5 million African American men registered for the draft, and African American women volunteered in large numbers. America's entry into WWII was in 1941. However, it wasn't until 1944 that the 92nd Infantry Division known as the Buffalo Soldiers, who were the first African American Soldiers sent into combat. This division landed in Italy and made its way through the country until they encountered German troops in September. The Buffalo Soldiers are recognized for their push of the Germans far into Northern Italy. How did the 2 leaders who didn't want war end or « Where is Nagorno-Karabakh Sir? » "Mankind must end war or war will end mankind," said John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK), President of the United States (1961-1963). He had succeeded, despite pressure and attempts at manipulation by the CIA. Thus, on March 16, 1962, JFK had rejected the implementation of the Operation Northwoods project intended to manipulate #public #opinion. How ? By simulating various types of attacks by the Cuban regime, then accusing the Cubans of being its perpetrators and invading their #country. A few months later, the Soviet Union (USSR) installed its missiles on the island of Cuba, that is to say under the nose of the United States. While his generals demand the bombing of Cuba, JFK resists. He finds, in secret, an agreement with Nikita Khrushchev, boss of the Soviets, who wanted the United States to withdraw their missiles from Turkey, that is to say from under his nose. Thanks to these two responsible politicians, the world avoids a nuclear #war, while they are "punished" for their courage. JFK will be assassinated and Khrushchev "fired" from his post. Today, it is #Ukraine that plays the role of Cuba, that is to say the ground where the same two powers - the #USA and #Russia, heiress of the USSR - clash. Except that in 2023, the global configuration has changed with the emergence of new players: #China, which is challenging the USA, and Turkey, which is playing a double game. Having become a member of NATO in 1952, Ankara is under the control of the United States and at the same time friends with Russia. Dangerous liaisons for which #Armenia had paid the price in 1920 by losing its first independent republic (created in 1918), forced to integrate the USSR. In 2023, it is the 120,000 Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh who are hostages of the arm of #trade between Russia and the United States. The first wants to reconstitute its Soviet empire. And the second wants to weaken Moscow as much as possible before proceeding to a new division of the Eurasian continent with the Russians to... subdue the Chinese. Nobody is therefore really interested in the fate of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh who, however, if they decide to resist until the end, will be “the swallow that will make spring”, heralding a new world order.
