🙌🙌🙌 In a world where conflict and hardship force millions to flee their homes, it is our shared humanity that must guide our response. Refugees and migrants are not just statistics—they are people with dreams, families, and hopes for a better future. Too often, they face prejudice and misinformation that foster fear and division. It is always a good time to challenge these harmful narratives and stand together in solidarity. Let’s remember: ✅ Refugees and migrants enrich our communities with diverse cultures, skills, and perspectives. ✅ Seeking safety and a better life is a human right, not a crime. ✅ Empathy is one of the strongest tools against prejudice. Advocate for policies that protect and support #refugees and #migrants. Speak out against discrimination and misinformation. Make it a habit to discuss migration issues with dignity and respect for **Stand with #refugees and all #migrants against prejudice**

I am the granddaughter of a Latvian refugee to South Africa during the height of the Second World War. I am the result of a Jew who fled persecution for his genetics, stowed away on a ship and stepped foot in a country where he did not understand the language, laws or culture. I am the result of a man who’s trauma in witnessing the pogroms of his family friends and neighbours resulted in two generations of alcoholism. I am the result of a refugee. I am deeply and proudly South African but more so I am a human deeply and profoundly in awe of people who pack up what little they have, cross continents on foot or by sea with more possibility of death than life to try and eck out a living and create a little prosperity in places where they are unwelcome, unwanted and rejected as uneducated, unworthy and unequal. Maslows hierarchy of needs tells us that we are actually all the exact same but separated by preconceived notions beliefs and prejudice.

This is true, the entire discourse about refugees needs to be shifted. No one can fully comprehend the pain of someone driven by the fear of death, except #refugees. That pain can only be alleviated somehow by accommodating refugees as valuable members of the community in the host countries, recognizing their skills, experiences, and knowledge. It's time to view the issue of refugees from a development perspective rather than just a humanitarian one. As a local NGO in Pakistan, #LegalIDPakistan is doing its best to organize workshops and awareness initiatives to change the narrative about refugees at the community level in Pakistan.

Refugees are not: ✅Troublesome ✅ Foolish ✅Taking our jobs ✅ Like free things ✅ Incompetent and uneducated ✅Lazy and don't want to work ✅Violent and abusive ✅ Sexual predators Refugees are people like us, with families, a brilliant mind, ambitions, want education, jobs, a bright future, peace! We can help them get this instead of holding onto false stereotypes about them!
