🚀 Germany vs. Turkey: The Battle for Doner Kebab! Germany and Turkey are in a heated debate over the beloved doner kebab. Turkey wants the doner to have a protected status in Europe, similar to how serrano ham and Neapolitan pizza are recognized. This means only specific production methods would be allowed, impacting how doners are made and sold. 🇹🇷 Turkey's Goal: To have doner registered as its “guaranteed traditional speciality.” 🇩🇪 Germany's Concern: This could lead to more bureaucracy, higher prices, and restrictions on how doners are made in Germany. With doner prices already rising and elections approaching, this issue is a hot topic in Germany. The country’s doner market is worth around €7 billion yearly, and many Germans enjoy doner kebabs regularly. Both countries have six months to reach a compromise, or the European Commission will step in. 🧉🦗 Argentinian mate cricket protein bar = great breakfast pairing I had to come to the Netherlands to try a cricket protein bar for the first time. And I really liked it. Especially the salted caramel bar. It is no small thing that the cricket powder content is 13%. We are talking about at least 6g of cricket protein. A pretty honest proportion, considering that other products in the insect-based food market use percentages lower than 5%. ✅ Good taste ✅ Nice packaging ✅ Interesting brand communication ✅ And a good match with Argentinian mate (For those who don't know what Argentinian mate is, I invite you to google it!). ANYTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN? I’d liken these yummy looking creatures to KFC and Chicken Republic. Before Colonel Harland Sanders founded KFC in 1952, or David Akinyanju founded Chicken Republic in 2004, chicken has been part of our meals. But these guys came into the scene and redefined same chicken we prepare, so that we’d rather spend half the amount of a full life chicken to buy a piece of theirs. Why? Masa or Wayna, as fondly called, is a fine delicacy common in the Northern Nigeria, especially Kaduna and Kano State. But someone in the Southwest, who probably has no idea the origin of this meal made of rice flour decided to take it to another level. Look at this picture again. Whatever beef you have with the north ends on this table because someone decided to turn a local food into some irresistible dish. It’s not really about having a blue ocean business idea or walking a path no one else has. It’s about the little magic you add to the existing businesses, because there would always be an audience for you. So what magic are you adding to that skill, pitch, idea, or business?
