I have often wondered since I began working in the humanitarian sector why, in Syria, humanitarian organizations must be based in Erbil (Iraq), Amman (Jordan), and Turkey. A grant is allocated for Syria, which includes all these offices, but the implementation of activities falls on the Syria office. Despite the work, risks, and fatigue that come with fieldwork, the field team receives minimal compensation. The external offices in Erbil, Amman, and Turkey mainly focus on coordination and reporting. How can this be justified when the fieldwork requires significant effort and commitment, yet the offices in Erbil, Amman, and Turkey receive higher salaries for coordination tasks?

Kenyans are attracted to work in the Gulf States due to their perceived higher economic prospects compared to other countries, as indicated in a recent report. The report reveals significant numbers: 310,266 Kenyans in Saudi Arabia, 66,025 in Qatar, 23,000 in the UAE, 8,000 in Bahrain, 5,392 in Oman, 3,515 in Kuwait, 200 in Iran, and 150 in Iraq. However, reports of abuse in these countries have surfaced, leading the government to take action.
