Journalists Play a Key Role in Spreading Awareness Worldwide! Our team of experts recently held a one-day in-person training for Afghan national journalists in Jalalabad and Mazar-e Sharif cities. The training focused on highlighting the importance of safer #streets, informing media on #road user behaviors, and educating them on the need for redefining #mobility hierarchy. 🚶♂️🚦📰 As trusted sources of information, #journalists are crucial to spreading the #RoadSafety message. Their role is vital in changing behaviors toward safer roads and cities for all. Thanks to UNRSF – UN Road Safety Fund, our goal remains the same; making Afghan streets and communities safe for everyone.

Maritime Security Bulletin and Advisory Re: A Vessel Carrying at Least (50) Migrants Has Capsized in the English Channel Killing (12). Date of Issue: September 3rd, 2024 Issued by: Sanborn Analytics Contact: [email protected] | Phone: 1 (617) 539-6114 Media Credit: Sky News (see link) Sanborn Analytics issues this maritime security bulletin and advisory to inform the maritime shipping community and naval forces at sea of a critical incident in the English Channel. On September 3rd, 2024, a vessel carrying dozens of migrants capsized in the English Channel, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 10 lives, according to French media sources. The French Coast Guard is actively conducting search and rescue operations. More than 50 individuals have been rescued, and helicopters along with boats are being deployed in the search for potential survivors. Local French authorities have confirmed that several of the rescued required emergency medical treatment, and a temporary medical post has been established at Boulogne-sur-Mer, located about 28 miles (45 km) southwest of Calais. This incident underscores the risks of maritime migration in the Channel, a highly trafficked area for both commercial and naval vessels. Shipping vessels operating in the region are advised to exercise extreme caution and to be prepared to assist in ongoing rescue operations if required. Maritime forces and commercial shipping operators should remain vigilant, monitor communications from coastal authorities, and adjust routes to ensure safe passage. Following a request for assistance from Albania through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Greece has sent four planes to help tackle wildfires in the Dropull municipality. “Wildfires know no borders. The EU has mobilised firefighting airplanes from Greece to support the local first responders in Albania in their fight against the wildfires. We stand ready to further support Albania if needed,” said Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič. The situation on the ground has shown signs of improvement overnight, but the EU's Emergency Response Coordination Centre continues to closely monitor the situation in case further support is needed. This is European solidarity in action. 🇦🇱🇬🇷🇪🇺🤝 Read the headline → europa.eu/!hGwJnq #EUSolidarity #EUCivilProtection #Wildfires

😞 Hamas uses drones to intentionally starve Palestinians 😞 🚨 Breaking news: in a shocking development from Gaza, humanitarian aid efforts are facing severe disruptions due to Hamas using drones to interfere with the distribution of essential supplies. Aid groups, working at the US pier in Gaza, are reporting significant challenges including Hamas drone-related interference and looting, which are delaying critical aid deliveries to the Palestinian people. Why would Hamas intentionally prevent aid from reaching its own people? This deliberate action raises grave concerns about their motives, potentially using starvation as a tool to manipulate public perception and gain international sympathy by portraying themselves as victims while they are, in reality, orchestrating the crisis. Such actions by Hamas could be viewed as war crimes, and it’s imperative that the International Criminal Court investigates these grave violations. The international community must not only condemn these actions but also ensure that aid reaches the civilians who are desperately in need without such reprehensible interruptions. I encourage a robust discussion here: Why do you think Hamas would engage in such actions against their own people? How should the global community respond to these blatant abuses of power? If you'd like to understand how the U.S. Repatriation Program works for U.S. Citizens overseas, read this.
U.S. Citizens sometimes find themselves in the unusual situation of being overseas and caught in a crisis such as a medical emergency, natural disaster, or civil unrest. Sometimes, they need help returning to the United States and getting back on their feet. The U.S. Repatriation Program is available to U.S. citizens who have worked with the U.S. Department of State to return from a foreign country under specific sets of circumstances. U.S. citizens who have been returned to or been brought from a foreign country to the United States because of destitution, illness, war, threat of war, or a similar crisis, and who are without resources immediately accessible to meet their needs, can request a loan through the U.S. Repatriation Program. Individual cases come through the Routine Repatriation process. An Emergency Repatriation mission occurs when a large number of citizens need to be evacuated within a short period of time. The last time that happened was when U.S. citizens were evacuated from Afghanistan in 2021. An entire section of the OHSEPR website deals with Repatriation.
