It’s here! The (603) Challenge is a week of big impact for UNH student changemakers who want to be part of building a sustainable and equitable world. Give today to make the biggest impact for the Sustainability Institute’s students while the $350,000 in matching funds remain. Your gift can be matched dollar-for-dollar – up to $350 per donor! “If I could distill all my lessons and experiences at UNH down to single thought, it would be this: the world is not a zero-sum place – least of all when it comes to education and experiences. I feel so grateful for all the Sustainability Institute offered me – excellent mentors, the Sustainability Fellowship program, the Social Venture Innovation Challenge, internships, and many other connections and experiences that have helped create the life and career I enjoy today. As an alum I appreciate more and more that none of this was an accident. I benefited from the careful planning and generosity of Wildcats before me, and now is my time to pay it forward!” - Andy DeMeo ‘18 And this year we have our own unique area challenge! Our generous underwriters, UNH’s Sustainability Advisory Board, as well as the Josephine A. Lamprey Designated Fund at New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the Larrea Family Foundation, have stepped up with $153,000 in additional funding for the Sustainability Institute if we reach our goal of 115 donors. Give today! #UNH603 Fiona Wilson Alexis Dwyer Kathryn Jerome Andy D.

Business schools are natural partners for many organisations, from big corporations to charities. These partnerships can bring successful internship opportunities for their students, international study trips, consulting projects, and recruitment opportunities for their graduates 👩🏽🎓 However, today, partnerships at business schools are going beyond this and focusing on sustainability and tackling climate change 🌎 In this article for EFMD Global, myself and Stephanie Mullins outline some inspiring business school partnerships where sustainability is at the forefront ✅ NEOMA Business School, POLIMI Graduate School of Management, University of Sussex Business School, Hult International Business School, King's Business School

We doing it! 👊 We are making November our #SustainabilityChallenge Month!!! 🎯Every day in November we are going to try to enhance our sustainability, even more, as a business. We might be *small* but we are aiming to maximise our impact! 🚀 We are going to stay accountable by posting our progress on our socials!! 🫣 We have been inspired by our involvement in Small Business Saturday UK and the 5.5 million other small businesses in the UK. Together, we are a force! Imagine if we ALL made small sustainable steps forward every day... Today is day 1️⃣ and we worked on Expanding our Partnerships #sdg17 Something we have been wanting to do for a while is work with students on collaborative projects. It aligns with our biggest impact area of "education" and it is something we are really passionate about. Today we had the first meaningful meeting about making this a reality! Partnerships and collaborations are a really important part of the sustainability agenda. The challenges that lay ahead cannot be solved or tackled alone! So ....Who is up for joining this Business Sustainability Challenge with us?? 😉 Sustainable X#businessgrowth #sustainablebusiness #challengeaccepted #challenge #sustainability #sdgs2030

Who says November is bleak – the sun shines brightly in the School of Environment Enterprise and Development, Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo. In that spirit, I wanted to flex (which according to my boys is the new term for bragging) some accomplishments of people I am working with. The first is Juan Moreno Cruz (Associate Professor SEED), who co-authored the article, Food without agriculture, Nature and Sustainability. I had nothing to do with the article but my office is around the corner from his. David Billedeau (SUSM PhD candidate) published his third journal article emerging from his PhD research. The article examines the sincerity of corporate commitments to sustainability and the efficacy of global initiatives such as the SDGs in changing corporate behaviour. Spoiler alert: David found that corporations signaling a commitment to the SDGs, as well as those with UNGC membership, showed a lower community investment as a percentage of net profit after tax (CI/NPAT%) than their counterparts without these affiliations. You can access the article at https://lnkd.in/gUkukCUT Cameron McCordic’s team published results highlighting the Canadian SDG cities index in Frontiers in Sustainable Cities. Dr. Adil Rauf, the lead author, is a recent SUSM PHD grad (convocated in October!!!). Mohamed Dadir (PostDoc SEED) was the lead author of a policy report released this past Friday prepared for Environment and Climate Change Canada and NS government modelling the impacts and associated health costs of hot temperatures in four NS communities. In addition, he is the lead author of an article, Health-informed predictive regression for statistical-simulation decision-making in urban heat mitigation being considered for a Frontiers Planet Prize. Waris Ali (SEED visiting research scholar) published an article in the Journal of Applied Accounting examining the impact of firm-level CSR governance characteristics on the extent, quality, and comprehensiveness of CSR reporting. The article is a great example of departmental collaboration with contributions from Amr ElAlfy as well. Waris is also the lead author of a second paper just accepted in the journal Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management. The article examines the impact of sustainability governance attributes on comprehensive CSR reporting in a developing country setting.

https://lnkd.in/dy7tR2eh Developing Impactful Leaders As leading business schools committed to the development of a better world, our mission is to prepare students and professionals to create sustainable value and to promote the emergence of a responsible economy in a digital and globalised world. In addition to their developmental roles, impactful leaders must first accompany technological evolutions, transition to cleaner energy, and make better use of existing resources through IT and AI. They also need to inspire behavioral changes in everyone, invent new business models and transform society. This includes evolving urbanisation, exploring new ways of living and co-living and more broadly, being actors of change. Meanwhile, we all experience dramatic and extreme climatic events, such as floods, fires, water shortages, making crisis management a crucial skill to develop. Most business schools have been integrating sustainability into their curricula and even into each individual course. Experiential learning is crucial for learners to become game- changers. At Esdes Business School, all our students work directly with underprivileged individuals within charitable associations for half a day each week for one year (Solicity program). This is a fantastic way to broaden learners’ perspectives and positively impact our environment. Being a game-changer is a daily commitment. Scaling up local initiatives is one of the challenges we face. A second challenge is that "more is not always the best". It is important to promote metrics and rankings that foster cooperation rather than competition in business higher education.
