UNDP Afghanistan's Resident Representative, Stephen Rodriques and Japan - The Government of Japan Ambassador H.E. KUROMIYA visited UNDP initiatives supporting women entrepreneurs in Balkh. They met local female business owners and appreciated their resilience. Since 2021, UNDP has supported 75K MSMEs with the Japan - The Government of Japan being 1 of the main donors.

UNDP Afghanistan's Res Rep Stephen Rodriques & Japan - The Government of Japan Ambassador, H.E. KUROMIYA, opened the rehabilitated Sholgara market road in Balkh. This will boost market access and connectivity for local businesses. Since 2022, with Japan - The Government of Japan funding, UNDP has constructed or rehabbed 179 community assets, benefiting 380K  people.

Afghanistan has one of the highest rates of opiate use, with 4 million users. On #WorldDrugDay, UNDP Afghanistan, supported by the Global Fund, provides opioid substitution therapy (#OST) to 1,600 people across five provinces. #InvestInPrevention
