UNDP, The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development embodies a global commitment to tackling poverty and inequality, emphasizing the power of partnerships. UNDP's work across 170 countries and territories is a testament to collective efforts in eradicating poverty and fostering inclusive growth. By focusing on goals like zero hunger, gender equality, and sustainable cities, we strive to ensure everyone has access to clean water, decent work, and resilient infrastructure. Together, we aim not just for environmental sustainability but also for justice and strong institutions, ensuring a better future for all. Join us in making a meaningful impact towards a more equitable and sustainable world.
I had the privilege with the UN missions to be engaged from the era of MDGs to SDGs as an UN advisor embedded with the state institutions in post conflict East Timor. UN and UN agencies portrayed their best in this ambitious transition in grinding poverty, conflict prevention, COVID anxiety, and climate security with institutional building and local ownership. Some takeaways: 1. Besides the strategic roles of UN, the power of “preferred bilateral partnerships” accelerated successfull outcomes with departure of UN. Signing the Defence Agreement with Australia in 2022 and the State Partnership Program with Rhode Island/US in 2023 created funding, programming, activities and training mgt opportunities with self determination. 2. Designing MOUs with UN Agencies, programs and agreements are crucial which requires coordinated meetings and joint programs even to the very remote villages/sucos. Competing with the national priorities for national development is a challenge, hence the streaming, monitoring and mgt of SDGs requires local leadership and administration for confidence building and career progression. 3. These amazing experiences need be written and shared as would be incredible case studies and research for state building.

Je suis très intéressé par le programme de PNUD en RDC.

3wThe path to achieving the SDGs is paved with the collective efforts of governments, organizations, and individuals. While each sector has distinct roles and responsibilities, their collaboration amplifies the impact and accelerates progress. By working together, we can overcome the complex challenges that lie ahead and create a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for all. The time for action is now, and it requires all of us to be engaged, committed, and united in our pursuit of the SDGs.
