We conducted a survey on #SustainableInvestment among investment players in Europe in Q1 2024 🤝 What can we learn from it? 🔎 The European sustainable finance action plan, adopted in March 2018, has now achieved its goal! The transparency requirement on the inclusion of #ESG criteria in investment strategies remains a powerful lever for encouraging #assetmanagement companies to turn their portfolios green. Consequently, only a handful have not yet begun to take these criteria into account. 👉 In our sample, 80% offer Article 8 or 9 funds, and all of them confirm that new funds will be, at the very least, Article 8. Thanks to the Institute of International Finance for the interesting discussion yesterday morning at the 2024 IIF European Summit on The Future of European Finance – Enabling Green Growth, with PietroCarlo Padoan UniCredit and Jean-Jacques Barbéris Amundi, moderated by Sonja Gibbs, CFA European Banks want to pave the way to the Green Transition and to bring solutions 🌍 In 2023, French banks supported this transition through €337bn of green and sustainable loans, up 50% from the previous year, while the financing of Oil and gas declined from 78 to 66 bn € at the same time. ◾ We are demonstrating that we are active & relevant partners to companies and households, in order to finance their effort to decarbonize the economy. ◾ The French Banking Federation is advocating for a supportive policy and regulatory environment. This includes reallocating European capital flows through a renewed Investments and Savings Union to bridge the gap between investment needs and available resources. The EU regulated a lot to get a comprehensive set of rules, let us now simplify it and make it a success for more investments. ◾ The Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) is a good example of cooperation, both between French banks themselves, and through the European Banking Federation. This global alliance, covering approximately 50% of the assets around the world, plays a leading role in the journey towards carbon neutrality of the banking sector.
