People are losing faith in multilateralism. They point to unmet commitments, double standards, and vast inequalities. The failure of countries to unite for solutions to common challenges reflects a deeper dysfunction in our world. Multilateralism is falling behind. The Summit of the Future in September is a pivotal opportunity for renewal. It will consider reforms to: - the global financial architecture to make it representative of today’s world and responsive to today’s challenges. - the Security Council, and a proposed New Agenda for Peace, would help to prevent and resolve conflict, rebalance geopolitical relations, and give developing countries a proportionate voice on the global stage. - a Global Digital Compact, including proposals on AI governance, can turbocharge the #GlobalGoals and help to close the digital connectivity gap. This is the moment for the world to move forward together. #OurCommonFuture https://lnkd.in/ebs22Rk5

I think the reason for lose of faith in multilateralism is that, the powerful nations of our world are not honouring rules and regulations once they have agreed upon to implement. They are not fulfilling promises and pledges once they committed themselves to do so. Developing nations in Africa have been reduced to the status of observership in any important decisions made at international level and that affect them and their people. UN has not been able to bring about peace and stability because those powerful nations are free riders and prefer to act unilaterally. The WTO, trade agreement is good example, where China and US got in to trade war albeit the existence of those trade rules and regulations. Some new mechanism is required to be designed so that to hold the world together.

The hefty salary plus benefits in the face of zero accomplishments has to be justified somehow I guess, hence the meaningless statement...?

The failure to act impartially and curb abuses in tyrant-led nations, the inability to stop genocide in conflict zones with disproportionate forces, and the significant advantages enjoyed by financially dominant countries in multilateral organizations have all contributed to the decline in faith in multilateralism. Efforts to build climate change frameworks contrast starkly with the continued rise in global emissions since the Paris Agreement. Moreover, holding massive events that favor the political lobbies of oil-rich countries—the root of the problem—further erodes trust. Funding limitations for sustainability projects due to political ideologies, the World Health Organization's overreach during health crises that prioritizes corporate interests over genuine solutions, and much more have led to a global disillusionment with multilateralism. I don't see how this can change significantly with so many tyrants ruling nations that preach equality but practice the opposite. We live in uncertain and complex times, where hope is overshadowed, and inequalities are at their peak.

From P5 Dominance to All-Inclusive Multilateralism” Perhaps the world is growing tired of a United Nations ruled by an econocentric P5 veto system that shields itself & its allies. The world likely appreciates the commendable & courageous stance of the ICC and ICJ lately, but sees the unaccountability through immunity and unenforceability. Potentially, the world longs for so much multilateralism that the UNGA becomes a parliament based on a one vote, one state principle. where each nation has one equal vote, instead of the UNGA being a powerless tool in the hands of the oligarchic P5 within the UNSC. This P5 privilege in Art. 27.3 of the UN Charter is on a collision course with the illusionary Art. 2.1 of the UN Charter where all states should enjoy sovereign equality. The world has evolved since 1945, & the current configuration drives states towards BRICS Plus. Another solution is granting the African Union & India P5 privileges and pooling all the remaining states into a single union. Thus, the current P5 would become a P8 with a higher threshold of required vetoes to block a resolution. Furthermore, vetoes should never be allowed in situations where human rights are suspended, as is currently the case in Palestine.

The United Nations and World Economic Forum are trying to micro-manage a world created by an infinite God, Creator of all that is. They are not equipped to see the failures ahead; they work with dreams of big investments turning into success; reality does not work that way. We are going the wrong way. To think like God and have His power, we must use His wisdom. It is written for all. There is no New Agenda for Peace; the promise is obey and be blessed, ignore His wisdom and all these curses shall overtake you UNTIL you turn back to Him as written, not as taught. From the moment we speak to the proven God of Israel, My God I need you to save me from myself and to heal our land, He will show Himself mighty on your behalf and on our behalf, for all people. Matthew 5:17-20; ACTS 3:19-21. DEUTERONOMY 5. Post the Ten Commandments as written in full or you post deception. The weekly Sabbath is the seventh day, a day of no work.

I am adding few points that highlight the critical areas where multilateralism is currently failing and the potential reforms that could address these issues: 1- Erosion of Trust: Growing disillusionment with multilateralism due to unmet commitments, double standards, and inequalities. 2- Global Dysfunction: Inability of countries to collaborate on common challenges, indicating deeper systemic issues. 3- Opportunity for Renewal: The upcoming Summit of the Future in September is seen as a crucial moment to rejuvenate multilateralism. 4- Financial Reforms: Proposals to update the global financial system to better address contemporary challenges. 5- Security Council and Peace Agenda: Suggested reforms include changes to the Security Council and a New Agenda for Peace to prevent conflicts and amplify the voices of developing countries. 6- Global Digital Compact: Proposals for AI governance and digital connectivity to bridge the digital divide and accelerate progress towards global goals. 7- Call for Unity: Emphasis on the need for global cooperation to move forward collectively.

No buddy, the failure of countries to unite for solutions to common challenges reflects your inability to unite the nations due to your prioritized hatred of Jews.

Perhaps it would be desirable for the Summit for the Future - multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow, to recognize that artistic and cultural processes inspire generations to think about themselves and their relationship with the world, and therefore create space and challenges to find new solutions to current and future demands.  The exercise of artistic and cultural practices, the space and time for thought and discussion about humanity's relationship to the universe, can contribute greatly to the renewal of multilateralism in the medium and long term. I agree that multilateralism is essential if countries are to agree and establish a common strategy with one goal: to defend the planet and better understand their place in the world.
