We had another intern! Ashvin is a year 10 GCSE Geography student who dedicated 4 days of his half term to learn about sustainability and spend time with the KLH team. Being his first internship, Ashvin had no idea what was in store for him, although he had heard about sustainability since Year 3, he wanted to expand his knowledge on the subject and of course we were on board when he reached out to us. When asked to describe his experience with KLH, Ashvin said: - “When KLH’s phone number flashed up on the screen when googling “sustainability”, I couldn’t help but to call them. I was already aware of a few buzzwords related to the subject from both the media and school, but it was at KLH that I was exposed to a variety of technical terms. Despite the relaxed atmosphere, you would be surprised by how much gets done. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a few meetings, and although I unfortunately could not contribute, I did however fully appreciate how intelligent everyone was, and more importantly, how they made sure everyone’s voice was heard, eloquently expressing their ideas throughout. The balance between creativity and analytical thinking at KLH is so unique to the sustainability sector: only two days after creating a sketch of a site for Lizzy Pettitt, I found myself working through calculations for Borja Bustamante Mediavilla and Bhawana Chaudhary. The meetings with the directors were true highlights, with their unique perspectives leading to insightful conversations. - I felt welcome and part of the team, and I learned so much in these few days, both about sustainability and my fellow KLHers, even managing to have a bit of fun whilst doing it.” If you are interested in in joining our internship program, keep an eye on our page as we will be sharing some exciting news soon! 😊 #sustainability #internshipprogram #creativity #summerinternship #intern

Meet Abe, one of our winter research interns. We are delighted that Abe decided to escape the cold and spend a few weeks with us. Our winter interns not only get the rare experience of hands-on learning from some of the industry’s most creative minds, they also get the chance to enjoy the sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures of South Florida winters. Our research interns spend their time working with deep historical data that spans an expansive universe of trading instruments. We asked Abe to share a bit about his experience… 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. I was given a very interesting problem with a variety of different potential approaches. I really enjoyed learning about new topics, hypothesizing, and experimenting with code. Everyone here is very kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I can see that they truly care about each other and are working hard to push the company forward. Finally, I had a blast outside of work attending a Miami HEAT game with some of my team, as well as participating in a clay shoot charity event. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? This internship has been a great preparation for what a full-time career as a researcher looks like. The research team is full of brilliant, hardworking people who are happy to pass on their knowledge and place you in the best environment to succeed. I was given a very challenging problem to solve, very applicable to the types of problems that researchers here tackle daily. From the first day, I received incredible support. I met almost daily with members of the team and was able to discuss ideas I had, receive feedback on my work, and get suggestions on avenues to explore. I learned so much not only about statistical and modeling techniques but also about how researchers think about and frame problems. I feel vastly more prepared for future opportunities.
