A few folks took offense to yesterday's post - mostly estheticians selling "exclusive" spa or derm office brands. Let's clarify what I ACTUALLY SAID - not the narrative you created to be offended by. I DID NOT SAY that exclusive spa, salon, and derm office brands were the same as everything available over the counter (OTC), including drugstore brands. I DID SAY that they are not prescription products and do not require gatekeepers. I AGREE that highly active, targeted skincare requires education to achieve the best results. But should these products only be sold following a mandatory in-spa/in-office consultation? NO. I understand that exclusive skincare brands add a healthy revenue stream to spa and derm office income. I do not hate that hustle. Make your coins Mama! I DO have a problem with skincare brands being presented as prescription-like or prescription-strength because they are marketed as "clinical," "cosmeceutical," or "professional" and unnecessarily kept behind a velvet rope. It's simply untrue and nothing more than marketing jargon. So, if you've chosen to be offended by my telling the truth about spa and derm office exclusive brands using misleading (non-clinical) data and blatant misinformation to describe their product's efficacy... Then, YOU are part of the problem and should be more transparent with your clients. #ISaidWhatISaid #SorryNotSorry #ClinicalSkincare #Cosmeceuticals #ProfessionalSkincare
