Today is #earth day, a day for reflection for some but for the UK Carbon Code Team its just another day of climate action. Every day we are helping drive investment into projects that restore natural systems, building carbon sequestration and storage and biodiversity recovery from the soil up. Climate action is something we can all participate in, taking the Japanese Kaizen principle, making many, small changes to our lives, multiplied up across the population can make a significant difference. Above all it’s action that counts, reducing emissions the number one priority, with the development of exciting projects that deliver social, climate and biodiversity benefits a close second. To invest or participate in UK Carbon Code projects, please take action and get in touch…

Following my Carbon Literacy training by betternotstop, I can now happily say that I have received my certificate and I am carbon literate! I look forward to implementing my learnings in my client work to help businesses effectively communicate their sustainable initiatives. I have also shared these learnings with my team at Rumpus | B Corp Certified, reinforcing the importance of understanding climate change and how we can limit our impact as a B Corp certified agency. #carbonliteracyproject #carbonliterate

Head of Carbon Projects | Monitoring Report Verification Expert | Technical lead for Italy's first accredited agriculture carbon credit project | Advanced GIS Mapping Specialist | Biodiversity and Agriculture
Over the last 15 years, I have migrated to free software and open-source languages. It's clear that we need to create a market to mitigate climate change. But why are licenses so expensive, keeping a large part of the global south out of the game? Let's make sure that everyone can participate in creating a sustainable future. #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateAction #CarbonSequestration #SoilHealth #AgTech #RothC #SoilRCarbon #EnvironmentalSustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #CarbonFarming

We all know that one of today’s hot topics is climate change. We have heard about environmental issues and sustainability. However, these issues are challenging to discuss in a second language. So, let’s consider some of the vocabulary you will need to be able to contribute meaningfully to discussions on these topics. https://lnkd.in/db5Re8M5

🌊 Blue Ventures blue carbon specialists are equipping community groups with mechanisms to harness climate finance through simple, rapid and inexpensive methods to monitor carbon emissions from degraded mangrove habitats. 🌏 https://lnkd.in/ePP_39dw The positive impacts of blue carbon ecosystems are well evidenced. Mangroves, sea grasses and salt marshes lock away huge amounts of carbon in their soils and mud, and when these ecosystems are lost, there is a risk that some of this carbon will be emitted to the atmosphere, accelerating climate breakdown. But if a community group wants to harness climate finance to fund their conservation activities, they need to know how much CO2 may be released in the absence of their effective management. This is hard to answer because: - Established and trusted research techniques require lab facilities that don't exist in most lower income countries, let alone within reach of community leaders. Meaning the power isn't where it belongs. - Mangroves, in particular, are extremely variable environments. Meaning the results you get in one spot may not be relevant for the whole ecosystem. In the context of climate finance, this means high uncertainty and barriers to investment. Jaona Ravelonjatovo has published a simple technique for measuring changes in soil elevation that only requires a tape measure, pen and paper, and a lot of tree measurements. You can read about it here: https://lnkd.in/ePP_39dw

Pollination Law is launching a new Carbon Jargon content series, where we'll be diving into some key topics related to carbon markets. To kick things off, we're touching on the differences between ex-post and ex-ante carbon credits. Ex-post carbon credits are earned after verifiable emissions reductions have taken place. They reward real and measurable carbon reduction efforts, making them a reliable tool for fighting climate change. On the other hand, ex-ante carbon credits are earned in advance, based on projected emissions reductions. While they promote investments in sustainable projects, they come with uncertainties and risks if emissions aren't reduced as expected. Both have a role to play in the fight against climate change, but understanding their differences is key to making informed choices. #carbonmarkets #climateaction

https://lnkd.in/gHgB6_3d The displacement of people and the cultural, social and psychological issues tgat arise are truly sad. It's not as simple as picking up and moving. As the article points out there's environmental factors to take into account as well. You know what would work better? Actually trying to slow down climate change. Addressing the production of fossil fuels and greenwashing. Definitely not, repeatedly, using COP to allow fossil fuel producers a global platform for greenwashing and further endangering tge planet. #ruleoflaw #humanrights #noexcuses #enoughisenough

The demolition industry is adapting to the current political climate by aligning with government regulations and policies related to environmental sustainability and climate change. Embracing green practices, such as recycling materials and reducing carbon footprint, enables the industry to comply with evolving environmental standards. Additionally, engaging in discussions and collaborations with policymakers and stakeholders helps shape industry practices to meet political expectations and contribute positively to the broader societal goals of sustainability and responsible development.

Passionate individual driven by integrity. I love rivers and the natural environment and enabling people to discover their potential through access to a wide variety of life experiences.
Glad to see the challenges are being laid down to bring carbon credits out of the Wild West, and, hopefully, see it emerge as a respectable market that drives positive and tangible environmental (and indirectly social and governance) impacts… https://lnkd.in/e-5hiy42
