The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has established that there’s a grave shortage of lorry drivers. MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company controls or participates in several container terminals in Italy including Genoa, La Spezia, Leghorn, Naples, Giota Tauro, Ancona, Venice, Trieste, and Rome Civitavecchia. This agreement will birng together substantial #intermodal capabilities to the extensive marine terminals nodes. A new company jointly owned by Mercitalia Logistics (51%) and MEDLOG (49%), an MSC Group company specializing in intermodal transport and logistics will design, build and operate new cargo terminals at sites controlled by the two groups in Italy. MSC has already substantial experience in integrating and operating combined ports intermodal network following acquisition (2022) of the Bollore Africa, the French #logistics company’s network of ports and railways in Africa.
