Last week Capgemini welcomed senior industry leaders from across the Travel and Transport sector for an industry day London. The feedback from everybody on the challenges (and opportunities) was remarkably consistent in terms of how technology is increasingly available but at the same time difficult to implement so that it seamlessly connects everything and everybody. This latest blog in our Future Of Travel series discusses the aim of frictionless travel for both the public and the industry and the barriers that exist and how we need to go about fixing them.

End of the 2021. I got information that PKP S.A. was interested joining to new European partnership. Europes Rail JU. Plan was easy, PKP must build R&D ecosystem, so they were looking for some innovation  proposals. I started to build proposal with 5 Poznan institutes. I wasn’t building it personally I asked for help may other peoples. We have sent it to PKP. And waited… Than we were asked to sign our willnes to participate. And again waited 😊 Suddenly (in EU partnerships time is going slower 😁 ) we got information. We were in partnership PKP signed papers it was 22.12.2022 – more than year and half of time. First partnership with EIT Urban Mobility it was a real sprint 😊 #europesrail #Partnership

Really interesting to see this Institut Rousseau report published recently, charting the scale of the investments that will be needed across Europe to support net zero. 'Train, Educate. Innovate' is the big message, alongside detail on the policy options to support decarbonisation and modal shift. While the challenge is significant, the need for innovation, new technology and new ideas in areas like rail and mobility is significant. At the Global Centre Of Rail Excellence, we look forward to working with governments, manufacturers and operators from across Europe and beyond to provide a world class site for rail and mobility research, testing and innovation that can support this critical agenda.
