ln this post we unravel the key principles and success factors of the OfR programme to support its implementation, such as: ✅ Reliability education: OfR aims to link machine operation and reliability. It explains why operators are well placed to improve equipment reliability. It also promotes the philosophy that equipment reliability is everyone’s responsibility. ✅ Data-driven: opportunities for OfR are identified using #DefectElimination data analysis processes such as #RCA and real-time monitoring, etc. These processes select equipment which have been identified from failures primarily caused by operator behaviour. ✅ Measures and feedback: it requires establishment of appropriate measures and operator feedback mechanisms, to ensure improved behaviour, are critical elements of the OfR programme. Typically, this involves implementing a multi-level reporting process from site level to individual operator self-management reports. ✅ Respect for the operator: OfR states that 'people will do the right thing if they understand what to do and why it is important'. It holds that people will respond positively to timely feedback. ✅ Relationships dependent: it needs an open working relationship between technical services, mine planning, production, and maintenance is important in an OfR programme – with a joint /shared focus on #ValueCreation. ✅ Requires Executive Sponsorship: support and sponsorship from Senior Production Management is critical for success. Very good summary. Unfortunately Systems Integration aspects are usually underestimated. This is applicable not to railway only but for other industries as well.
