The Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) have announced they have put forward to the council recommendations to develop an approach to the additional regulation of Advanced Practice. Advanced Practice plays an important role in the delivery of care to people. It includes complex, autonomous and expertise that many experienced nurses and midwives carry out. It has been highlighted that there is no single definition of Advanced Practice and it’s unclear whether the public understands the importance of the role or what it means for their care. There is no lie in this story!!! As an international educated nurse myself, I too has felt the cold touch of racism and have been traumatized to the point where I would rather return to my own country. As I said in a previous post I made, the nursing profession already has many challenges, and racism should not be one. #racialtrauma #endracism #hostileworkenvironment #internationaleducation #nursingprofession
International nurses ‘left crying and traumatised’ due to racism Internationally educated nurses are crying at the end of shifts and have been feeling “traumatised” because of the racist and derogatory comments they face, a new report has revealed. In its inaugural Spotlight on Nursing and Midwifery Report, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) warned that this comes amid a big increase in overseas professionals leaving the register over the last five years. #nurse #nurses #nursing #midwife #midwifery #midwives #nmc https://lnkd.in/eK2hRYX5

These principles are also mapped to the The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct: ‘Compassionate leadership is central to the provision and co-ordination of nursing care and informed by its values, integrity and professional knowledge. Responsibility includes leading the integration of emotional, physical, organisational, and cognitive nursing work to meet the needs of people, organisations, systems, and populations.'” Find out more from Megan F. in Nursing in Practice: https://lnkd.in/e8uAZdF8 https://lnkd.in/e8uAZdF8 #CompassionateHealthcare #CompassionateLeadership #CompassionInAction #LeadBetterChangeTogether
