The education system is alarming. The Economist Joel Mokyr described the modern education system as designed to teach future factory workers to be “punctual, docile, and sober[15].” The structure of our educational system has largely stayed the same over the last 200 years. Do we want our students leave the classroom not as followers but as changemakers? Do we train students to blindly fit today’s society or to construct a better one? Let's ponder about it. This is an good article to reflect about Education, Capitalism, and Superspecies. https://lnkd.in/gf67vyGE

Empowering introverted scientists to speak up with confidence and become more visible without becoming overwhelmed. Private sessions | Group coaching | Workshops
I wasn’t allowed to learn languages at school, I had to do extra maths instead. I remember a few classes at primary school, and actually being told I had a natural ability but then at secondary school they discovered my problems with maths. At that time, it seems there was no awareness of dyscalculia of whatever my problem is, so they just kept putting me in the same classes over and over again hoping that the repetition would help. It didn’t. What it did do however was give me the repetitive message that I was a total failure when it came to maths, and a complete insecurity complex over all things with numbers. Why am I sharing this with you? Because I understand how school time experiences can effect our confidence today as adults. Even when we’re able to rationalise the events in our brains, the emotional connection to that time often sticks. That emotional connection can be hard to shift, and make it even more hard to ask for help. I know, because it took me almost 40 years before I was brave enough to get coaching to help overcome my insecurities with numbers, and before those first coaching sessions I was terrified of having to reveal and dealing with my emotions surrounding numbers. That’s why I now use Core Transformation with clients who experience strong emotions around past events, even if they might seem like inconsequential events to an outsider. Core Transformation allows us to change how we feel in the present and the future without having to relive the past. So if you’re struggling to overcome past experiences and it’s effecting your ability to speak confidently with your peers, DM me to find out how I can help you move forward. #gesundheitswesen #oncology #biotechnologie #sciencenews #businessenglish #languagebarriers #englishatwork #biotech #pharma #scientist #communicationskills #personaldevelopment #confidence #impostersyndrome

When Randomised Control Trials are set as the 'gold standard' to address the challenges in education, they miss the nuanced, contextual variables that teachers deal with daily. Teaching is a fast-paced, intellectual, unpredictable profession in which teachers must judge the impact of changing variables from minute to minute. These variables must shape the application of research into practice. #educationresearch #pracademics
