Good quality supervision = good quality delivery of primary care . Investment in GP supervision and training ( particularly in areas of need ) is an investment in equitable healthcare delivery of the future.
The cost of infrastructure, training and research is baked into our hospital system. And this is funded at about $2.2 Billion per year. However very few dollars are allocated to primary care for teaching, training and research. Sometimes this means that we need to reduce pay for GP trainees to help cover the cost of supervision. No doubt a contributor to the low rate of interest from final year medical students in a primary care career. Good interview with Richard Murray. Our profession needs a reset: - Reinvigoration around medical ethics and the consistent repudiation of over servicing / physician induced demand throughout medical school and post MD/MBBS training. - Rejection of the corporatisation of primary care / general practice and of specialist medicine. - Legislation that prevents the ownership of medical practices and hospitals by anyone other than practising medical doctors and especially precludes private equity and speculative investors. - Improved self-regulation that enforces ethical rules around health care delivery. - Rebalancing of reimbursement away from under compensating for preventative care and over paying for procedures and testing which we know creates distorted health care provision. - The only question a doctor need ask themselves when making decisions around tests and procedures: “Would I be happy for this care to be delivered to a family member of mine”.

#Generalpractice is great It has all of the attractions of great patients, longitudinal care, deep and meaningful therapeutic relationships and interactions! PartridgeGP being a training practice means that we can highlight the following: 1. Uncapped earnings as a registrar. Pick the right practice and work the hours you want and you can pick your income. 2. The base NTCER rate is the base, not the apex. 3. It's the quickest road to an unrestricted Medicare provider number. 4. It's the quickest way out of the hierarchical and administratively run public hospital system (just have a read of 'this is going to hurt', 'going under', 'the registrar', or 'emotional female') to know why this can be a good idea 5. It's training to be self employed - enjoy autonomy of freedom to practice when and where and how you like 6. You can build your practice (personal or beyond) in the way you think it should be done. Public hospitals absolutely can't offer this. 7. No stuffing around booking leave a year in advance and worrying about trawling through a 100 page award to see if you get paid or not.
