Let’s face it: Though rewarding, therapy can be a lonely profession. We’re proud of the sense of community that we’ve fostered throughout our clinical team, and today, to round out #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, we’re excited to announce that we’re strengthening that community with the launch of five employee resource groups (ERGs). While ERGs are common in tech and larger organizations, they may be a new concept for clinicians. In this new blog post from Aubrey Harrison, Ph.D., head of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at Two Chairs, learn more about what ERGs are, why they’re important, and which ones you could join if you become a therapist at Two Chairs. https://lnkd.in/ggqSsKpz

Yesterday was a busy day out of the office for me. It was an absolute pleasure to have been invited to speak at the Total Enterprise Solutions #TES4Charities event, about the role that ED&I and the development of neuroinclusive workplaces could have in helping us challenge tech skills shortages. In conversation with some of the delegates after my presentation, it was clear that this subject resonates and is hugely important to many people, for many different reasons. I was particularly moved to hear from delegates with responsibility for recruitment and on-boarding staff who were taking away some of the things I shared to make positive changes in their workplaces for neurodivergent and disabled colleagues. This is how change happens, and I love it! After a busy morning of presenting and networking, it was time to join the Frog Systems Limited roundtable about EDI and workplace wellbeing with Jane Robertson, Glen Ridgway and Shireen Ali-Khan (She/Her) MCIPR MAPM, for more conversations about the importance of wellbeing in the workplace, and the role that EDI has in building workplace cultures that are inclusive and support belonging. It was such a lively and interesting discussion, and I know that Glen, Shireen and I could have talked for at least another hour on the subject. Thank you Jane for keeping us all on-track and on time! I was shattered by the end of the day. That was a lot of people-ing and a lot of talking, but I loved it, and really appreciate having been invited to participate in both events. The more we have these conversations, the more we normalise discussions about difference, belonging, and breaking down barriers for neurodivergent and disabled people. Yesterday, as part of our Health in Hand programme for 2024, we hosted a thought-provoking webinar focussing on neurodiversity in the workplace. With over 80 registered attendees, it's clear that there's a strong interest in understanding how neurodiversity impacts individuals in workplace settings. During the webinar, HCB Group Case Manager, Sally Campbell delved into the diverse ways in which neurodiversity can influence people at work. From exploring the unique strengths and challenges of neurodiverse individuals to discussing strategies for creating a supportive and inclusive workplace environment, Sally provided invaluable insights and practical advice. We discussed the importance of offering specialist assessments and accessing additional support and resources to ensure that neurodiverse employees can thrive in their roles. We also discussed the significance of implementing reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of neurodiverse individuals and promote their success in the workplace. By raising awareness, providing education, and implementing supportive practices, we can create environments where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. A huge thank you to HCB Group’s Sally Campbell, and everyone who attended the webinar! #Neurodiversity #DiversityandInclusion #WorkplaceInclusion #InclusiveCulture

With around 15-20% of the population estimated to be neurodivergent, how can organisations create a truly inclusive workplace for neurodiverse employees? For neurodivergent employees, it’s important to foster a workplace that actively promotes a strong sense of belonging where organisations need to raise awareness and understanding around neurodiversity. In practice, this means: ✔️Raising awareness and understanding of neurodiversity among all staff. This may include training, resources, and guidance on how to support neurodivergent employees and colleagues. ✔️Fostering a culture of inclusion and respect, and treating everyone as an individual and appreciating their differences. This includes avoiding stereotypes, labels, or assumptions. ✔️Providing reasonable adjustments for neurodivergent employees. This may include flexible working hours, assistive technology, quiet spaces, or mentoring. Join our webinar on 26th September to learn how organisations can create an inclusive workplace where neurodiverse employees can thrive and do their best work. As the lines between personal and professional lives blur, understanding the struggles and triumphs of our colleagues becomes paramount. This is especially true for our caregiver-employees, who often balance immense personal responsibilities alongside their work commitments. 🌟 When we, as leaders and peers, truly embrace empathy, we: ✨ Create safe spaces for open dialogue, understanding the unique challenges faced by caregivers. ✨ Foster environments that prioritize mental well-being and recognize the dual roles many employees play. ✨ Drive innovation and problem-solving, as understanding breeds collaboration. The caregiver-employee connection is powerful, and by nurturing it through empathy, we can unlock potential that benefits everyone. After all, workplaces that care flourish in more ways than one. 💡 For a broader look into caregiving support, check out The Caring Place HUB https://lnkd.in/gqAka4FQ For tools to aid your organization in this endeavor, discover our product range https://lnkd.in/d7wzVjgV #EmpathyInAction #CaregiverSupport #WorkplaceCulture
