It was joyful to watch a great team in action over Christmas…and the magic seemed to be in playing to their strengths. My youngest son is an amazing cook and loves it…so he cooked up a feast. My daughter-in-law is very creative and organized, and had us all playing crazy games…with prizes so competition was high…as was the laughter and fun quotient. Our youngest granddaughter created a charcuterie board for snacks Christmas Day —-and the eldest created one on Boxing Day. The youngest grandson set the table for supper, took garbage out, took dogs out, etc… two of us put food away, loaded the dishwater, etc…and our youngest granddaughter(18) made short work of the pots/pans (her happy place) and left the kitchen sparkling clean. Ten people went to bed full of great food, love in their hearts and a strong connection to family. Do you intentionally play to your team’s strengths? It can pay huge dividends. #leadership #strengths #success

Leadership Lessons through Salsa Dancing . . . Last month, I had the privilege of leading a breakout session at The Alumni Society Leadership Summit where we explored leadership through SALSA DANCING. Why did we do that? 1. I’m Cuban. #azucar 2. Leading is a verb . . . and more often than not, we lecture on leadership and don’t give people an experience to practice and embody the skill. 3. I’m a big fan of metaphor . . . sometimes the easiest way to a breakthrough is not through talking about the thing, but by exploring the topic through an unexpected lens. 4. In salsa dancing, and in partner dancing, there is a lead and a follow. If the lead pushes, there is no dancing. If the follow pulls, there is no dancing. Dancing happens when the lead and the follow come together with 100% energy and intention, with clarity around their roles. 5. There is a gendered expectation that the “man” leads and the “woman” follows. We liberated ourselves from the gender expectation and had people switch from leading to following so that they could better understand how to be a better partner. What else can we learn about leadership through partner dancing? #PublicSpeaking #Fearless #Communicators #Coach #Storytelling #SpeakConfidently #PresentationSkills #FearlessPublicSpeaking #CommunicationSkills #SpeakWithConfidence #StagePresence #OvercomeFear #EffectiveCommunication #SpeakUp #MasterYourMessage #EmpowerYourVoice #ConfidentCommunication #SpeakLikeAPro #VoiceCoach #PresentWithImpact #PublicSpeakingCoach #ArtOfCommunication #InspireThroughSpeech #conquerthestage Vianni Lubus, Pedro Antonio Guerrero, Jill Ortiz, Cristina M.
