Last month I had the privilege of talking with a room full of women executives in Las Vegas about the importance of clarifying three pillars of your personal/leadership brand: your strengths, your values and the way people experience you. (Thanks for the opportunity, Heather Rapp!) I'm not a marketer, but as an #executivecoach who helps clients lead from a place of confidence, I'm a big believer that confidence stems from clarity – about what you're good at, what you stand for, and what you offer the world. And that's why it's important to think about #brand as a leader. In my experience, #values tend to be an over-looked aspect of personal brands – most people HAVE values, but struggle to explicitly NAME them. The risk in that approach is that you may sometimes operate in ways that are inconsistent with your values – which accidentally erodes your brand and can muddy what you stand for. Dove's latest ad (which, as a woman, gives me ALL the feels) is a perfect illustration of how "living your values" creates brand integrity. If Dove hadn't been intentional about its stance on real and untouched images, this ad wouldn't have been possible. For the first time in 18 years, Dove was back in the Big Game last night with an important message for keeping girls in sports. It's not the knocks, bumps or bruises that drive girls to quit sports by age 14 - it's low body confidence. Dove and Nike co-commissioned research and found that 45% of girls globally drop out of sports each year - that's twice the rate of boys. Together both Dove and Nike developed the 'Body Confident Sport' program, a first-of-its-kind, scientifically-proven set of coaching tools to build body confidence in girls 11-17 years old and keep them playing the sports they love. Sports are for every body. What a fantastic case study with such a a lot to learn from. In a business where Daily revenue per outlet is tracked religiously, moving from a short term focus to a balanced approach with long term brand building in mind, resulted in market leadership. In a world where brands are looking for instant results, here is a lesson in real & sustainable brand and business building, that took years of effort and not quarters! And yes, markets are equally unforgiving everywhere in world, so its not like they had a free and endless runway to do this. Kudos to Unilever and the Dove team. This is critical to challenging false beauty standards and correcting the biases and unrealistic prompts, images and content we find online. Great to see an entity championing real beauty and not using technology, biases and unrealistic expectations to distort the concept and idea of beauty. How do you iterate on your employee’s ideas without disempowering them? Here’s a story. In the early days of TodayTix, we published a beautiful physical magazine featuring celebrities and award winners. While it showcased how dynamic theatre is, it didn’t move the needle enough for the time, money, and resources poured in. Time to pivot. So, I encouraged employees to repurpose the magazine content for our Instagram account instead. The result? ▶️ Our Instagram now showed unique BTS look at theatre productions in a much more engaging way ▶️ We addressed the fundamental issue of theatre’s perception more effectively ▶️ I didn't dampen my employee’s spirits to take creative risks Shiny objects distract everyone, even your team. A great leader channels that energy to sift through the noise, salvage the gold, and keep the team spirit soaring.

Its skillful portrayal of deeply entrenched societal tensions without taking itself too seriously or choosing sides. Most importantly, its ability to demonstrate language's formidable capacity to reshape reality - from Its Barbie & Ken to 'Its Barbie & Its Ken', a minute linguistic alteration that shifts the relationship dynamic of the two so tactfully exemplifies the film's nuanced brilliance. 45% of girls drop out of sports by age 14 due to poor body image - twice the rate seen among boys. That data point is the focus of Dove’s 2024 Super Bowl commercial, raising awareness as they launch their Body Confident Sport program. As a former athlete and the mother of a 15-year-old daughter who runs cross country and indoor track and plays lacrosse, this ad tugs at my heartstrings. When the little girl in the video pulls away from the mirror and jumps into the pool with the rest of her team, she becomes a winner… and so does Dove. Dove’s Real Beauty campaign, which began in 2004, has a track record of investing in serious research to gather data that aligns with their social mission – and bolsters their brand value (and bond) with consumers.
