It still baffles me how much I see CMOS targeting the wrong people and yet still wondering how they aren't hitting their sales and revenue goals. One of my favorite clients a few years ago was the LEGO Group because they saw the value of this and capitalized on it in a big way. Working with them to target and reach their A customers, a term they coined called "AFOLs" turned efforts into a cash cow that printed money for them. What's an AFOL? 🧱 Adult fans of LEGO have distinct usage behavior, over-index with nostalgia, and favor content and narrative interest in space exploration, medieval history, and architecture and design. They favor activities that require deep concentration and creativity. Their purchase journey is unique and cross-channel, and various accessory, storage, and display solutions are strong predictors of future LEGO set purchases.
