(No one to blame but yourself mate😪) 👀 This handsome chap you’ll see below (not the dog) decided to bleach his hair a week before joining Beaumont, with a plan to do something new. A change that involved not only personal but professional adaptation. Unlike many, I’ve always had a huge interest in recruitment. Getting told off at my old employer because I kept asking Kelvin about the world of recruitment...🤣 ⏩ Fast forward to now, I’ve lost the slim shady look, gained curtains and became a go to within Risk, Compliance and Operational recruitment within Financial Services, Legal, Insurance and Regulatory Consulting. I’ve built relationships with some of the industries best, work with some incredible businesses and not a bad bunch at beaumont either…. 📝 Has it been an easy ride? Far from. Would I change anything? Not at all! Maybe a few things to do with relationship choices, but hey, we live and we learn!😂 🚀 What I’m trying to get at is, I need to post something on LinkedIn so people still know I’m here. SUPER smart perspectives here: “Your experience likely includes roles of significant responsibility and authority, at times, life or death, which often enhances critical thinking skill sets, judgment, and EQ. So, don’t sell yourself short.” Two pieces of advice that stood out against the grain: -Lead with an offer in compensation negotiation. This Industry needs Real Leadership. "A 'Prestigious Speaking Engagement'... A 'Critical Challenge'... The Industry "elite" are so out of touch. I'm sure everyone would love shorter collection cycles; however, having a 'prestigious speaking engagement' on this matter is FUTILE. Restoration organizations don't have cash flow problems! They have overhead and the inability to develop & follow processes problems. These are the same guys that have >85% GP Margins and are netting <10% and then crying poverty or blaming the policy holder, insurance carrier and their people... everything and everyone, of course beside their inability to run a business or gain influence over their organizations. This industry is self-destructing. There are real issues that need to be solved. We, the independently owned... We, the frontline... We, the policyholders... We are done. How long do you think policyholders are going to stand paying for your poorly run businesses', golf events and conventions? How long are your frontlines going to stand for the oppression and the de-value that has been put on their contribution to the industry. You are spending millions of dollars a year on "how to get your people bought in"... I have a novel idea... stop spending your money on dumb crap and create a future for them.

Reviewing a statement for a prospect who is meeting with Paul Richards, CFP®, CKA® and me in the coming days. File this under, "Nobody was paying attention." According to the client's statement, this position was added on August 1, 2000. That point is noted on the chart with the green date on the left with the price marked with the green horizontal line. Except for a brief period in 2018, this position was underwater for ~20 years. Yes, the client is currently up ~20% on their investment. But that was dead money for 20 years. So did they really "gain" 20%? Thankfully, this is a small position and the client likely did not notice it because they also had one gigantic winner. If they are like most clients, they probably were just paying attention to the beginning and ending value of the portfolio instead of monitoring the individual positions. Overall, this individual has done well, but this chart is an example of why it's important to pay attention to the details ... or hire someone who will. Opportunity cost.
