Summer of Inclusivity continues next week. Rebecca McGuirk will be joined by Nicola Ihnatowicz and Stephanie T. to look at the ever shifting culture war of hybrid working. With differing opinions emerging between those who see home and hybrid working as the future of work, and those who would prefer a return to full time attendance in the workplace, we're ready to take your questions. We’re excited to put a spotlight on a new member of the #Thinkers50Radar – Andrew Barnes. Considered the architect of the global 4 Day Week movement, Andrew champions the benefits for companies and employees in reducing the traditional five-day working week to four. He first conducted an experiment in his own business, New Zealand trust firm Perpetual Guardian, by asking his employees to design a working week that would allow them to meet their current productivity requirements and retain the same salary – but with a 20 per cent cut in hours. The results were dramatic: people were happier, healthier, more focused and productive at work, and more engaged in their personal lives. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dyJvN35E

As remote work becomes increasingly prevalent, Fridays are evolving in the workplace. Contrary to initial concerns, data shows that workers are logging off earlier and even treating it as a de facto day off. But this shift isn't necessarily detrimental to productivity. Shorter Fridays can lead to increased performance on other days, mitigate burnout, and reduce turnover. Employers are embracing the idea of lighter Fridays, offering flexible schedules and instituting policies like half-day Fridays to promote work-life balance. This approach has resulted in positive outcomes, including improved employee morale and retention rates. The trend towards lighter Fridays reflects a broader cultural reassessment of work-life balance and productivity norms. Overall, while lighter Fridays may challenge traditional notions of productivity, they are proving to be a beneficial adaptation to changing work dynamics and employee needs.
