Polycerates Goat .. Romanian species 🇧🇪🇧🇪 🐐🐐🐐 The black wild goat 🐐 is famous Romanian 🇧🇪🇧🇪, It is in a big threat and near extinction due to overhunting, knowing that until recently, Romanian hunting associations licensed foreigners to hunt in its mountains and forests but; also there are other types, such as the Carapathian goat 🐐 and white Banat goat 🐐, which are specific to breeding for its meat, skins, and milk. It is one of the two-horned goat species, but there are rare mutations that may occur and the number of horns may reach 8. And commonly, there is the Austrian 🇦🇹 Vierhornziege species, which is classified as Polycerates, meaning multi-horned, and the number of its horns is 4. There are numbers of this species in Romania 🇧🇪🇧🇪 and it is seen strangely and different from their counterparts. The reason for the existence of this type is due to the year 2008-2009, when the Romania 🇧🇪🇧🇪 government imported large numbers from France 🇨🇵 and Austria 🇦🇹 and distributed them to farmers at the rate of 10 heads each to help them live after the spread of unemployment following the separation from the Soviet Union. There is currently a herd of more than 2 million heads, a few for export, and the majority still play a role in filling the local market’s demanding for milk and cheese, especially handmade ones. Several countries still practice whale and shark hunting and consumption: A. Whale hunting and consumption: 1. Japan - By far the largest consumer of whale meat. Whaling is ostensibly for "scientific research" but the meat is sold commercially. They mainly hunt minke and sei whales. 2. Norway - Engages in commercial whaling of minke and endangered fin whales. Whale meat is available in specialty restaurants. 3. Iceland - Hunts fin and minke whales for commercial purposes. Consumption of whale meat has declined but is still eaten by some. 4. Faroe Islands - Pilot whales are hunted in drive hunts for local consumption as a traditional practice. Whaling remains controversial. 5. Greenland - Indigenous subsistence hunting of various whale species including fin, minke, bowheads. The meat is an important food source. 6. Alaska - Native Alaskan communities are permitted subsistence hunting of bowhead and gray whales in limited numbers. B. Shark hunting and consumption: 1. China - It is estimated up to 73 million sharks are killed each year for fins, most of which end up in China. Shark fin soup is a luxury item. 2. Japan - Various shark species are hunted for their meat, especially blue shark. It is eaten raw as sashimi and in other dishes. 3. South Korea - Shark meat consumption has surged as a trendy health food. Soup with shark meat is a popular dish. 4. Taiwan - A major consumer of shark fins for soup. Shark fins are also used in traditional medicines. 5. Indonesia - Shark hunting is unregulated in many areas. Fins are exported to China and meat sold locally. 6. Spain - Blue shark and mako shark are targeted by local fleets. This time we are concerned about sustenance in food production, and at the same time maintaining biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem services of natural resources. To achieve 17 SDGs of the United Nations, Soil and Water Conservation should be given top priority in the prevalent climatic anomaly related disaster management in all land uses. Because, application of suitable soil and water measures can reduce unusual anthropogenic pressure on natural resources including forests. A prominent cultural practice of the Irula tribe from the Nilgiris is the Doddu Aatam festival which holds profound significance rooted in their beliefs and traditions. Born from the belief that gaurs were initially domestic cattle that adapted to the wild and evolved into gaurs, this festival symbolises a connection between people and nature. Irula and Kurumba tribal communities, along with the residents of Kotagiri, perceive gaurs as a crossbreed between domestic and wild cattle. Doddu Aatam is a community performance wherein the Irulas mimic gaur (called Doddu, meaning big) movements. The performance is a ritual to ward off ill fate and misfortune from the village and protect domestic cattle from harm and predation. Historically, Doddu aatam was performed over a period of seven nights, but the duration was shortened to three nights due to time constraints. Post-performance, participants engage in an elaborate cleansing ceremonial process believed to rid the village of any existing misfortune. They burn their performance attire, discard the ashes in the river before bathing, and only return home after praying and eating in the temple.
