Steel for Packaging Europe has confirmed that 80.5% of steel packaging placed on the market was ‘really recycled’ in 2022. This is #circularity in action and a milestone to be proud of. Having said that, although 80.5% is impressive, recycling rate differences between countries are significant so we can’t let up. The Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation passed by the EU earlier this year will help focus attention with clear criteria for designing packaging for recycling. As Steel for Packaging Europe says, let’s urge “all EU institutions to maintain high levels of ambition to collectively build a greener, more circular future in Europe.” #MetalRecyclesForever

Steel packaging has already exceeded the EU 2025 recycling rate target of 70%, with an impressive 78.5% 'really recycled' in 2021! The 2022 'real recycling' rate will be announced on June 26th.
