On Veteran’s Day, we thank all those who have served our Country. Here are 8 Ways to Say 'Thank You Veterans' on Veterans Day 🇺🇸 1. Say "Thank You Veterans" by Showing Up – find and attend your local Veterans Day parade 2. Donate to Veteran-Focused Charities – Check out Wounded Warrior, Operation Second Chance, Freedom Service Dogs of America 3. Fly a Flag – Correctly. Checkout miliary.com to learn the proper rules for displaying the American Flag 4. Ask Someone About Their Service. Chances are, they will want to share with you. 5. Write a letter to say "thank you veterans". Visit the Soldiers of Angels website to learn more 6. Don't Confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. Veterans Day is a time to thank those who are serving or have served and are still with us. Memorial Day is to reflect and remember those who lost their lives in service to their country. Confusing the two or combining the two diminishes the importance of both. 7. Visit a VA Hospital - Many VA facilities will have events on Veterans Day or a special lunch you can help prepare. 8. Get Outdoors with a Veteran - Invite a veteran or a military family to explore a national park; admission is free for all visitors on Veterans Day. Being outside helps improve physical and mental health, boosts emotional well-being and is a great way to celebrate the day with a veteran. ❤️🤍💙 #childfamilycenter #veteransmentalhealth #veteransday

Happy Veterans Day! We should all take a moment to reflect on what we can do to support veterans everywhere. How can we use our votes, our time, our charitable contributions, and our personal relationships to support our warriors after they come home. The sacrifice most people think about happens on the battlefield, but the sacrifices veterans make doesn't stop there. And so we must raise awareness and fight for the rights and wellness of those who were willing to fight for us. Give them comfort, support, and care. Respect their sacrifice with more than words because they honored their commitment to us with more than words. And stand by them even when it would be more easy to look the other way or forget the incredible gift they gave us, to live free and at peace. Consider this, over the ~20 years our troops were at war in Afghanistan, we lost 6, 241 U.S. lives on the battlefield. However, the more striking statistic is when you discover that we currently are losing more veterans to suicide every year, than that total number of battlefield casualties over 20 years. Between 16-22 veterans are lost to suicide every single day and have been for every day since 2001 when the war on terror began. This is the cost of war and this is why we must do better to support our veterans after they come home. So this Veterans Day, I ask you to consider supporting the Wounded Warriors Project, Flanders Field, or another non-profit of your choice that defends, cares for, and supports our troops after they return home with wounds they will carry for a lifetime. https://lnkd.in/eVPkuwY4 https://lnkd.in/etD88FG4 And if you want to get more informed on what our government is doing (or not doing right now), take a look at https://lnkd.in/efkHB3rY

Each year, Wawa, Inc. teams up with the USO and local members of the Air and Army National Guard for the annual tradition known as Operation Taste of Home, where together, they assemble care packages. This year, as #VeteransDay approaches, this annual tradition continues as Wawa associates, members of the Wawa Veterans’ Alliance and members of the USO and Pennsylvania National Guard plan to assemble more than 10,000 care packages that will be sent to service members stationed abroad. The Wawa Foundation will also be presenting the USO with a check for over a million dollars raised through customer donations! These campaigns make it easy for customers to donate and show that even small amounts can make a big difference — often totaling millions of dollars. Yes, believe it or not, that small change you donate as you make your purchase can actually make a huge difference in the lives of American service members, military spouses and military children. #TheUSO’s corporate partnerships help to fund major USO programs that support service members and their families — programs that keep them connected while they are stationed or deployed anywhere in the world.

Hi LinkedIn friends! I am taking on the Army-Navy 100 Mile Challenge. All donations, support, partnership, and accountability is encouraged, as I begin logging miles on Dec 1 but am accepting donations starting now! Suicide rates among active-duty military members are currently at an all-time high since record-keeping began after 9/11 and have been increasing over the past five years at an alarmingly steady pace. In fact, some branches of the Armed Forces are experiencing the highest rate of suicides since before World War Il. In 2021, research found that 30,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide - compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years. That is, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations. For military families and parents, whose active duty loved one already sacrifices so much to protect our freedom, this trend is extremely troubling. l am not a runner but decided to take on this challenge to show solidarity with the brave people who continuously serve us everyday. 100 Miles is hard but it is nothing compared to the Mental Health struggle our service members often face. As a younger sister to an active service member who has mourned more than anyone should, it is important that we begin to have these hard conversations and offer support, even if we are just civilians. Thank you for your support and donations! https://lnkd.in/ecgJwAMe

Slow down for a minute. Contemplate the enormous blessings we all have and the role freedom plays in our lives. It’s hard to comprehend living in a country that oppresses its people and stifles creativity, dreams and promise of a fulfilling life. This is a statistic that hits close to home, considering our heart and connection to the military community, and it's one we're hoping to lessen through the course of our programs. But we know that it's not a single organization - or single person's - matter to solve. 💛 We also know that a single person and organization's efforts can make a difference to #TalkAwayTheDark, no matter if they're part of the military community or not. Here's a few ways we can do that: 💛 If you suspect someone you know or love is considering suicide, educate yourself on what that might look like. Then, there are steps you can take to talk about it: https://lnkd.in/gdrycPZh 💛 Find a cause, such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or The Veterans' Crisis Line, that speaks to you. Consider making a donation to help fund suicide research and awareness, or simply use their resources to get educated: https://lnkd.in/d_PNaU2 💛 Help us continue to bring light to those serving at home, including our military and their families, by visiting us online at www.hkfva.org.
