Units matter! I visited with a customer last week making MEA-triazine blends. An awesome customer with multiple OPAL-103 analyzers, ISO-9500-certified production facilities, smart and savvy chemical manufacturing. Quantitative Raman Spectroscopy from OndaVia, Inc. works perfectly on their fresh, 60% triazine batches. But when they started testing complex blends -- multiple triazines, methanol, scale inhibitors -- our system started giving strange results. After hours of debugging, testing, diagnosing, thinking, and hair-pulling, I asked what should have been the first question: are these blends done by weight or volume? Quantitative Raman Spectroscopy is calibrated for wt-%; the customer uses vol-%.
