Happy to share that we have been granted funding from Vinnova/ZIM under the Eureka SMART programme for BRAVE: Robust Post-Processing of Additively Manufactured Components. BRAVE aims to pave the way for industrialisation and commercialisation of post-processes including machining (cutting), mass finishing, and electrochemical processes (Hirtisation®). The main goal is to develop a robust integrated digital experimental framework for optimising the value chain for the PBF-LB additive manufacturing process. We aim to develop simulation-assisted and experimental methodologies for process optimisation along the entire value chain starting from the AM process itself and subsequent thermal (HIP for example) and subtractive post-processes. Manufactured parts will undergo in-situ tests to assess their fatigue, corrosion, and wear properties.   This project involves Swedish and German research and industrial partners: Chalmers University of Technology (Coordinator), RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Hamburg University of Technology, GKN Aerospace Sweden AB, Ringhals AB, OKG, Forsmarks Kraftgrupp AB, Vattenfall, Sandvik Coromant, Höganäs AB, AMPOWER, Raytrix GmbH, Quintus Technologies and Tribonex. We’re thrilled to share our incredible journey at Formula Student Germany, where we competed against 84 top-tier teams from over 20 countries, with more than 2,812 students participating. The competition was intense, but our team rose to the occasion with remarkable performances. 🔧 Driverless Category Highlights: • Fastest lap time in the driverless category. • Despite a 30-second penalty due to initial battery issues, we secured 2nd place overall, narrowly missing the top spot by just one second, penalty included. • We set a new track record, demonstrating the speed and precision of our autonomous systems. 🚗 Manual Drive Category: • With a driver the car showed immense promise, performing exceptionally well through most of the endurance race. • Unfortunately, on lap 15 of 18, our race was cut short due to a suspension/chassis issue caused by a track bump. This placed us 18th. These results highlight the strength of our team and the potential for future success. We’re excited to take the lessons learned from FS Germany and continue innovating as we prepare for next season.
