"To win in the marketplace, you must first win in the workplace". -former CEO of Campbell's Soup, Doug Conant I'm thrilled to share that Hispanic Cheese Makers - Nuestro Queso has received both the Top Work Places Industry award and the Top Work Places - Chicago Tribune Award. Check out our feature in the Chicago Tribune! A company that values its employees and culture is one that recognizes the importance of creating a positive and supportive work environment. By investing in their employees' well-being, such companies foster a sense of loyalty and dedication among their workforce. This, in turn, leads to higher job satisfaction, greater productivity, and better overall performance. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more likely to be engaged and committed to the company's mission and goals. Companies that prioritize their employees and culture often see higher retention rates, lower turnover, and better outcomes for both their employees and their business. https://lnkd.in/gnqdS-GV

September marks my first full year as CEO of Whole Foods Market, and what an incredible 12 months it’s been. One of the best parts, without a doubt, has been getting to interact with Team Members — whether it’s in the aisles of our stores, at our facilities, at a Team Member Connection meeting or in a banana field in Costa Rica. I never cease to be amazed by the people I meet, and it’s a privilege to hear your perspectives. I hope you see your feedback reflected in the actions we’ve taken this year. It is gratifying to look back at what we’ve accomplished together so far. We co-created Growing with Purpose – our 10-year company vision and strategy. We made unprecedented investments in our Team Member experience, rolling out a much more robust 401K match, a deeper Team Member Discount in Prepared Foods and more career advancement opportunities. We’ve activated several new ways for all Team Members to be engaged in our business – like the quarterly All-Hands Huddle and our E-Team Roadshow. We’ve also taken meaningful steps to simplify the way we work and to refocus on stores. On a personal level, this year has taught me a great deal about myself and servant leadership. I’ve felt the impactful change of supporting day-to-day operations to leading our entire organization. I’m a natural problem solver, but I’ve learned that empowering our teams to create solutions has resulted in tremendous outcomes for the company. I’ve learned that when we’re faced with difficult decisions, looking to our Core Values and our long-term goals can help us arrive at the best outcome. I look forward to another year full of engaging conversations, store visits, lots of learning and, of course, continuing to fulfill our Purpose to Nourish People and the Planet. We’re just getting started. #TeamWFM

Love these posts from the Ginsberg's Foods team. Great job of establishing the brand of a company by featuring the people who make the company what it is. How is Ginsberg's, a regional food distributor, going to stand out when so many products are commoditized? They showcase their people. I want to open a restaurant just to buy from this guy, and from the team that he considers family. Branding isn't just marketing to potential customers. It is also attracting additional employees and making the enterprise/company/brand more attractive to other companies as partners. I'd suggest some design tweaks and mechanics within the edit, but full props to the messages. #branding #brandbuilding
With 31 years of experience under his belt, Bill Rich stands as a stalwart figure in the warehouse of Ginsberg's Foods, often being one of the first faces encountered by trainees on their journey with the company. His seasoned expertise is evident as he meticulously guides newcomers through every aspect of the job, infusing each training session with his trademark humor, making even the most mundane tasks enjoyable for his teammates and trainees. Bill's presence adds a comforting reassurance to the warehouse floor. His unwavering dedication to his craft and ability to find joy in every moment makes him a respected mentor and a cherished friend to all who have the pleasure of working alongside him at Ginsberg's. While Bill spends his days zipping through the aisles of the warehouse, his life outside of work is equally vibrant. When not immersed in Ginsberg's bustling activity, he can indulge his passions elsewhere, whether cheering on his favorite team in a stadium packed with roaring fans or trying his luck at the roulette table. Bill's zest for life is infectious, leaving an indelible mark on both the warehouse floor and beyond. Our Ginsberg’s Employee Spotlight continues this month with an unwavering team member committed to the service and success of the Ginsberg's team. Thank you, Bill, for all you do here at Ginsberg’s Foods! 🌟 #employeespotlight #employeeappreciation #foodservice #foodserviceindustry #hudsonvalley #employeespotlight #warehouseworkers

‘Wow’ Experience - Bowl of Noodles I asked Army Boy to prepare a simple bowl of noodles with tomatoes & bean sprouts. Guess what did I get🤔? He gave me a big bowl of noodles with tomatoes & bean sprouts, and roast pork & Char Siew (Chinese BBQ pork)😮! It was an unexpected and heartwarming gesture that exceeded my expectations😍😍. This experience taught both of us important lessons. Army Boy learned the art of ‘wowing’ people, a skill that can be immensely valuable in various aspects of life, including our professional endeavors. As for me, I gained firsthand insight into the feeling of being ‘wowed’ and the incredible kindness of the kid🥰🥰🥰. Additionally, I realized the importance of providing opportunities for others to explore and develop their talents, just as I had given him a chance in the kitchen😚. This story serves as a reminder of how we can apply the principle of ‘wow’ not only in our personal lives but also in our workplaces. Whether you are in customer service, project management, or leadership roles, the concept of ‘wowing’ our external and internal customers, colleagues and bosses can lead to exceptional outcomes☺️. #Parenting #WowFactor #CustomerExperience #ProfessionalDevelopment

EI Strategist. TEDx Speaker. I help organizations create an emotionally intelligent and inclusive culture. | Emotional Intelligence | Self-Awareness | Resilience | Embracing Change |Workplace Culture
Tis the season for sweet potato pies and candied yams! Which brings to mind an interesting way to look at two concepts we frequently discuss in the corporate world: Diversity and Inclusion. Let's think of them in terms of yams and sweet potatoes. Yes, you heard right! Yams and sweet potatoes are often mistaken for one another but are, in fact, quite different. This is much like the relationship between diversity and inclusion in our workplaces. 🔹 Diversity is Like Yams - Diverse in form, size, and color, yams represent the rich variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives in our workforce. Diversity is about acknowledging and valuing these differences. 🔹 Inclusion is Like Sweet Potatoes - Sweet potatoes, though similar in appearance to yams, are known for their unique ability to blend into various cuisines. Inclusion is about integrating this diversity into our corporate culture so that every voice is heard and valued. Key Takeaways: Interdependence: Just like a meal can benefit from both yams and sweet potatoes, our organizations thrive when diversity and inclusion go hand in hand. Unique Contributions: Each brings something unique to the table, much like each individual in a diverse team contributes uniquely to our collective success. Nurturing Growth: Cultivating an environment that values both diversity (yams) and inclusion (sweet potatoes) requires effort, understanding, and commitment. Let's embrace both diversity and inclusion in our teams, just as we enjoy the distinct flavors of yams and sweet potatoes in our meals. 🌈 Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on how you balance diversity and inclusion in your workspace! #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #TeamBuilding #EmbracingDifferences

Is Career Development Underdeveloped in Retail? Whole Foods is taking a different approach. CEO Jason Buechel said a primary employee retention tool for the organic grocer is creating opportunities for advancement. At the store level, apprentice programs for butchers, certified cheese professionals, and bakery decorators help associates develop skills and trades they can not only employ at Whole Foods but elsewhere in life. Also helping with retention is Whole Foods’ Cultivate mentoring program, which Buechel believes extends further than similar retail efforts. Buechel explained, “Most other retailers might offer this type of program for their store team leader or store leadership. We open up all this for our team members so they have opportunities to connect with other folks to get supporting, coaching, mentoring experiences.” Here's what others are saying on the matter - Kevin Graff "We’ve seen it, and proven it, so many times with our clients that solid career development results in higher engagement levels, lower staff turnover, and better results." Dave Wendland "Upskilling, reskilling, and career path planning are essential to the success of any operation (especially retail)." Jeff Sward "AI will have a huge role in the future of retail. But so will store associates, and they’ll need explicit training in how to perform best in an evolving retail environment." #retail #career #careerdevelopment #industrynews #trending #yallo #goyallo #yalloretail

Author of "The Middle Matters: A Toolkit for Middle Managers" - Helping mid-level leaders become great in their roles: Keynotes | Coaching | Groups | Courses | Development Programs
Often, over the course of my career, I have been given some really challenging roles that I was sure I would fail at. Typically, these were roles where others had failed before me. I’d often get frustrated because I felt like I was being set up for failure. But if I hadn’t been given those roles, I never would have had the chance to - Work on the milk’s favorite cookie campaign for the Oreo brand - Launch the Pieces launch at The Hershey Company (that arguably began a change in candy aisle packaging) - Rethink marketing planning at Ahold - Evolve Guest Relations at Cracker Barrel These are some of the coolest projects, most amazing teams and proudest achievements I have had the chance to work on over the past 20 years. At some point, I figured out that I actually like tough challenges ... especially finding ways to fix long standing problems that other people have written off. I also learned that what seem like impossible problems often just need someone to have a “there has to be a better way” attitude plus a little persistence. Which was how I ended up spending most of the last two years working with an amazing team at Cracker Barrel to address the longstanding challenge of making data more accessible for end-users. We started out with a tiny team and grew analytics into a full blown function focused on democratizing data access and getting the right data to the right people in order to make the right decisions. We made a ton of progress, overcoming the stumbling blocks that had hindered progress in the past. If I could give one piece of career advice to younger Jeff, it would be this: Embrace the challenges. That’s where you learn the most and that’s where your proudest achievements will come from! #middlemanagement #leadership #careeradvice
