Transnet hosted a Youth Imbizo at the Esselen Park campus in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The event was abuzz with discussions about the achievements, challenges, and opportunities for young Transnet employees. Itumeleng K. Matsheka (MBA), Chief of People Management and Learning, highlighted the importance of youth development programs and skills training. “Transnet Academy invests nearly R1 billion annually in development programs, welcoming about 30,000 participants each year," Tumi shared, showcasing some successful initiatives from Transnet’s Faculty of Leadership and Functional Development. Serepong Rahab, General Manager for People Management and Organisational Effectiveness, reported that Transnet employs 11,217 youth, with the highest representation in Transnet Freight Rail (24%), Transnet Port Terminals (27.3%), and Transnet Engineering (12%).  “Young people, we see you, we hear you, we believe in you,” she affirmed.
