📢 Tomorrow, July 27, 2024, is World Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Day. 🎗️ These #cancers🦀 affect several organs of the mouth and throat. They account for around 6% of all cancers. Tobacco and alcohol consumption are well-established causes of the disease. Another well-known factor is infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV), for a third of them. 👩⚕️ The course of treatment depends on the organ affected. There are three main types of treatment: surgery, radiotherapy, and anti-cancer drugs (chemotherapies and immunotherapies). 🟠 Transgene designs and develops #individualized #immunotherapies to treat head and neck cancers. Its lead product, #TG4050, is at the cutting edge of personalized medicine, combining biotechnology and artificial intelligence. The first signs of #clinical #benefit for patients were presented at AACR 2024. All treated patients, in Phase I trial, are still in #remission after a median follow-up of 18.6 months, while three patients in the control arm have relapsed. TG4050-induced #immune #responses were specific and persistent for up to 7 months after the start of treatment. A Phase II part of this study is in progress. It is conceivable that this kind of treatment could be applied to other types of cancer and improve patients' lives on a larger scale.

Liquid is Solid.
The findings of this study showed that serial testing using Guardant Health’s blood-based minimal residual disease test increases sensitivity for detecting recurrence in patients with Stage II & III Colon Cancer.¹ Serial testing measurements increase sensitivity up to 80% versus a single test measurement at Day 28 post-surgery.¹ The ability of Guardant Health’s comprehensive liquid biopsy to detect minimal residual disease is one of many factors that makes our liquid biopsy solid. Speak to your doctor today about minimal residual disease (MRD) testing with a simple blood draw. Visit us at https://lnkd.in/gHNdYtQN to find out more about our MRD test which can help oncologists identify patients at a higher risk of recurrence. Reference: 1. Yoshiaki Nakamura et al. https://lnkd.in/gs4VZ6hh Article title: Tumor lysis syndrome after chemotherapy for metastatic colic carcinoma: About two adult cases Author(s): Abaza H; Sallami S; Ben Chaabene A; Gara S Journal: Archives of Clinical Gastroenterology Journal ISSN: 2455-2283 Abstract: Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS) is a major oncological emergency involving metabolic perturbations. It occurs when tumor cells release their contents into the bloodstream, either spontaneously or in response to therapy. TLS is characterized by hyperuricemia, hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia and hypocalcemia following massive lysis of malignant cells. Although this syndrome is well described, it is rarely seen or suspected in solid malignancies. The frequency and severity of TLS is partly dependent upon the biology of the disease and type of therapy administered. We report in this work two cases of tumor lysis syndrome occurring after chemotherapy for endocrine colon carcinoma with small metastatic cells. #Cancer #LysisSyndrome #Chemotherapy #Colon #Hyperuricemia #InflammatoryBowelDisease #FunctionalGIDisorders #GastrointestinalAndLiverDisease #DigestiveOncology #GastrointestinalSurgery #PediatricGastroenterology #ColorectalCancer #PancreaticCancer #HepatocellularCarcinoma #GastrointestinalBleeding #Endoscopy #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #SurgicalGastroenterology #StomachUlcers #VirtualColonoscopy #GastricUlceration #RouxenYGastricBypass #GastricAcidSecretion #GastricMucosa #GastricUlcerHealing #GastricCardiaCancer #ReproductiveEndocrinology #EndocrineDisorders #Hepatology #AlimentaryCanal #PancreasCancer

->30years old male presented with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma with intra-abdominal tumor. ->CT-CHEST investigation was done in precontrast and contrast phase( arterial and venous phase). Discussion: Rhabdomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor that originates from the immature muscle cells call rhabdomyoblasts. * The clinical presentation varies depending on the location of a tumor. However, in general, rhabdomyosarcomas are rapidly growing masses. They cause localized pressure effects on neurovascular structures and have a predilection for infiltrating bones. Pathological fractures can therefore occur. * increased incidence of rhabdomyosarcomas is seen in patients with a variety of syndromes and congenital anomalies, including: neurofibromatosis type I (NF1) andmaternal use of cocaine and marijuana. * On CT scan, rhabdomyosarcoma, often presents with the following characteristics: 1)Mass Lesion: It usually appears as a well-defined or irregularly shaped mass. 2)Heterogeneous Enhancement: Due to areas of necrosis, bleeding, or differing degrees of cellularity, the tumor may exhibit heterogeneous enhancement following contrast injection. 3).Invasion of Surrounding Structures: The tumor has the potential to spread to nearby organs or tissues, including the kidney, liver, spleen, pharynx, and vascular systems. 4. Regional Lymphadenopathy 5. Calcifications. Additional histopathological study and clinical correlation are frequently required for a conclusive diagnosis. #CTradiographers #CTspecialist #CTeducation #cancercases #Computedtomography

#lungcancerscreening program in Croatia, lends globally and socially relevant insights to early screening. Lung Cancer Policy Network announcement and Sebastian Schmidt's post 🔗 in comments Bottom Line: 🔍 Detection Rates Comparison: Detection for Stage I/II reached 47%, surpassing rates in countries without screening, such as Germany (23%). 💉 Treatment Focus: The majority of patients underwent surgery, indicating a significant portion with curative intent. 📊 Quality Indicators Clarification: A high rate of stage IV cancers in a screening program doesn't necessarily reflect on the screening program's quality. Instead, it serves as an indicator of the healthcare system and overall environment. 🌐 Future Initiatives: Ongoing efforts involve embracing improved diagnostics, such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). These advancements specifically target late-stage cancers like Pancreatic, CRC, Lung, and Ovarian. 💡 Potential Impact: These diagnostic enhancements have the potential to revolutionize healthcare systems, not just clinically but also economically. Improved targeted therapy in earlier lines could redefine the significance of early screening, making it a valuable healthcare intervention. #healthcareinnovation #cancerscreening #earlydetectionmatters #precisiononcology #healthcareimpact
