ITFA is today launching an important update to its DNI Initiative Handbook, the second edition of which was published in 2021. The Addendum deals with some of the consequences arising from the passage of the United Kingdom Electronic Trade Documents Act 2023. This law is a major step forward in enabling the creation of electronic trade documentation, including bills of lading, bills and exchange and promissory notes, governed by English law. The Addendum gives practical help on how to adapt traditional forms of bills of exchange and promissory notes to handle the requirements of the Act. We have also updated our #dDOC standards for systems/vendors digital negotiable instruments who will now be required, in order to meet the standards, to show, amongst other things, an ability to prove reliability of the relevant system in a legally satisfactory manner and to present and transfer the instruments. We are pleased to note that the #dDOC standards have been accepted by the World Trade Organization and by #ICCDSI in its latest report on “Key Trade Documents and Data Elements” available here as the key global standard for bills of exchange and promissory notes. 🌐 The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has unveiled #eUCP Version 2.1, an alignment of the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits for Electronic Presentation (eUCP) with the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR). ↗️ This alignment, not a revision, emphasises the growing significance of electronic transferable records in global trade. 🤔 What does this actually mean and what are the key changes between eUCP v1 and v2.1? 🗣️ André Casterman, Head of ITFA’s Fintech Committee told TFG: “This new version of eUCP enriches the set of options for the market to digitise trade flows. It is very welcome by #technology vendors and alternative lenders, and demonstrates that traditional trade instruments have a bright future in front of them. Long live the Letter of Credit.” 📖 Read the latest issue of #TRADEFINANCETALKS where Trade Finance Global (TFG) Editorial Director Deepesh Patel further explains eUCP rules and its MLETR compatibility ➡️ https://lnkd.in/egt2ucbv #digitaltrade #globaltrade #mletr #swift #letterofcredit | UNCITRAL: United Nations Commission on International Trade Law

🎥 NEW VIDEO | How MRPAs are paving the way for collaboration in Trade Finance ➡ The #tradefinance industry offers a diverse range of instruments, structures, and mechanisms, all aimed at transforming trade opportunities into tangible realities.
