We are thrilled to announce the launch of Kappahl’s Digital Product Passport pilot! 🌐 At first glance, it might seem like just another QR code, but let me tell you, it's not your ordinary information tag. In a world where Digital Product Passports are mandated to take effect in 2030 (ESPR), understanding the intricacies behind creating an infrastructure enabling every value chain participant to access and share updated, trustworthy data throughout a product’s lifecycle(s), securely, is paramount. The complexity of this task, integrating the entire architecture needed for a global DPP system to work seamlessly, has left many questions unanswered. And that's why this launch is a game-changer! It's a step towards unraveling the possibilities and addressing the challenges ahead. Peters Group has received many awards and certificates Where are #certificates not needed today? In any case, there are a lot of certificates available for our #coatings 😉 A large number of important and necessary #tests on the processing and the nature of our products is necessary. These include, for example, #UL tests, which not only relate to non-flammability.  They are, for example, facilitating deliveries to the USA and are also often required in the #automotive industry. There are tests according to IPC, Military Standards (MIL) or DIN-compliant tests. All these certificates and tests enable our #products to be used in a wide range of #applications. These include, among many others, #aerospace, energy technology and e-mobility. However, there have also been #awards in the past that should be mentioned here: in 1999, Peters Research won the Research and Innovation Prize of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mittlerer Niederrhein with the development of the first heatsink paste (HSP 2741). In 2000, on the occasion of the #EXPO in Hanover, the then Federal Minister of Economics, Dr Werner Müller, presented Werner Peters with the German SME Award for the same heatsink paste - an innovation that is currently rapidly gaining in importance.  In 2001, ELPEGUARD® thick-film coating Twin Cure® DSL 1600 FLZ also won a #research and innovation award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mittlerer Niederrhein. In 2019, the company was awarded the 1st prize for "Occupational Health Management" by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mittlerer Niederrhein. In addition to the classic workplace situation analysis, changes of the office workplaces, regular health days, sports and nutritional offers and various team-building activities, the company also looked at factors that have an influence on well-being, such as for example the communication in the company. #onthisday in #tech #history -- October 7, 1952 🗓️ Barcode Technology Patented 📃 American inventors Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver are granted US Patent 2,612,994 for “Classifying Apparatus and Method,” described as “article classification through the medium of identifying patterns.” Of course, today we better know these “identifying patterns” as barcodes. Woodland and Silver eventually sold their patent for only $15,000 but were later inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame. Barcodes were first used commercially in 1966 and it rapidly developed that eventually by 1970, there was a requirement to have some sort of industry standard set. A company called Logicon Inc. created the Universal Grocery Products Identification Code or UGPIC for short in order to implement the barcode throughout the retail industry. Monarch Marking, based in the United States of America, was the first company to produce barcode equipment using UGPIC for retail trade use. British company, Plessey Telecommunications followed suit, creating their equipment later in the same year. The UGPIC was transformed into UPC, or Universal Product Code symbol set, which is still used in the United States of America. The first piece of equipment using UPC was installed in a Marsh’s supermarket in Ohio and the first product checked out using a barcode was a packet of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum on June 26, 1974. This was back in 2017. Our first exhibition ever: the European Coatings Show 2017. 🎉 (I can't believe it's been more than seven years since then.) Attending an international trade fair as an exhibitor is a special milestone for any entrepreneur. It was especially meaningful for me as we launched allchemist.net at this event. 🚀 It took us five years, from the initial idea in 2012/2013 to a ready-to-use digital platform, launched at ECS 2017. The original idea was to help paint producers draft formulations in a virtual lab using raw materials from an existing database. 🖌️ Allchemist was based on our Chemius application for managing safety data sheets, so we already had most of the necessary data. The upgrade with formulation development helped clients reduce lab trial and error and optimize formulations faster. Additionally, Allchemist integrated a safety data sheet authoring tool, allowing clients to quickly produce safety sheets and labels for instant sample shipping. 📄🚚 Our goal at ECS 2017 was to attract raw material suppliers to join the platform. We believed that suppliers providing their material data in a processable form would help producers be more efficient in R&D, saving time, money, and resources. 💡💰 By digitizing product knowledge, suppliers could efficiently support customers of all sizes and make their lives easier. As a result, they could benefit from shorter sales cycles. However, we were wrong. Big players didn't want to share a publicly available database where R&D experts could easily find raw materials, draft formulations, and create safety labels. Also, the platform was run by a small, independent Slovenian company, so it was a no-go. ❌ We tried again at ECS 2019, and I also gave a speech at the European Coatings Conference on the digitalization of the paint and coatings development process. Unfortunately, it didn't make a significant impact. 📉As a rational entrepreneur, I decided to pivot the project. Today, Allchemist and Chemius are two sides of the same platform. Allchemist serves R&D professionals, while Chemius handles regulatory compliance. The platform now integrates regulatory compliance with R&D and marketing (with a new tool for authoring and managing technical data sheets). 🔄📊 Compared to the original idea, we now work with individual companies, helping them achieve more with less effort while managing their data wisely. They can control with whom and under what conditions they share their data. 🔐 As for the shared database, we haven't completely abandoned the idea. Super excited to see NUK for Nature™ in market, with responsible and thoughtful packaging, and a well-designed shape that helps babies soothe better. Every time we ideate and work on 4Ever®, we wrestle with how to make it more useful, for longer, for more families, with better adherence to safe use and installation. The Graco 4Ever® is an incredible success story, and the 5-in-1 is another step forward in creating a product for parents that adapts as families and kids grow - up to 12 years of age! ETSA TEAM had an incredible time participating in Deutscher Textilreinigungs-Verband e.V. s annual Congress in #Germany.
