World Shopper founder, Head of 2035 Automotive 360º Vision, CEO at Jotoliveira, Ambassador of "Living Electric"
From an analog and combustion mindset to a digital and electrified vision. The adoption of digitalization in the automotive sector has some similarities with the adoption of electrification. This excellent study by Gartner considers two categories that would also be crucial in a research about the OEMs most geared towards electrification: "Culture & Leadership" and "Talent". These areas decisively influence the speed of adopting a technology, with direct action not only on strategic soundbites but also on the less visible aspects of management. Speaking of talent: it's a pride to have Portuguese talent leading this initiative at Gartner (Pedro Pacheco, MSc MBA). Ricardo Oliveira World Shopper Talks #GetReadyForTheFuture James Carter J. R. Driving through the grand mountains of Europe, you feel the hum of your e-car beneath you. The wind whips past, the sun dapples the asphalt - it's just you, the road, and the silence of your electric engine. 🚗 But, this picture-perfect moment seems to be fading into the rearview mirror. Recent news indicates a potential slowdown in e-car sales. A shift that could cause tremors in the automotive industry. 📉 VW-Markenschef Thomas Schäfer warns of falling sales figures. The Bundeswirtschaftsministerium responded promptly, increasing e-car purchase incentives by at least €400 million for this year. ⚡ What's going on here? And more importantly, as industry leaders, how do we navigate this as we continue driving forward? 🤔 As an experienced industry leader, and having worked in 34 countries, I've seen my share of peaks and valleys. I've led teams through shifts in the market, product launches, and even changes in business models. 🌍 Whether you're at the helm of a multinational or an entrepreneur at the start of your journey, here are a few strategies I've found valuable: 💡 1⃣ Embrace change: Change is a constant in our industry. Rather than resisting, we must embrace it. Change fosters innovation, pushing us to think beyond our comfort zones. 2⃣ Listen to your customers: Are e-cars not meeting customer expectations? Or is the dip in sales due to other factors? Engage with your customer base, learn their needs, and adapt accordingly. 3⃣ Leadership matters: Now, more than ever, effective leadership is vital. This means fostering a culture of trust and openness, where innovation can thrive. Remember, every challenge brings opportunity. A chance to redefine, to innovate, and to come back stronger. 💪 This e-car hiccup? It might just be the catalyst that drives us to create better, more efficient, and more desirable e-cars. So, buckle up, embrace the ride, and, as we Italians say, "Andiamo!" - let's go! What do you think is causing this slowdown? What strategies could the industry adopt to navigate this? Let's open the floor to discussion. #leadership #automotiveindustry #change #innovation
