Congratulations #Segs! I'm so proud of my younger brother. A veteran participant of the Access Bank Plc sponsored #Lagos Marathon, Segun successfully completed the #London Marathon on Sunday. After training vigorously for months, he woke up feeling ill on race day, of all days. #Quoting Segs, "Thanks so much again to everyone who donated towards my London Marathon fund raising for Stroke Association. We raised £2476. So proud of you all. YOU ARE AMAZING!! Sunday’s race didn’t go according to plan, as I was in absolute agony from mile 14 onwards ( I got warning signs at mile 11, but foolishly ignored them and stuck to my race strategy), and very nearly threw in the towel at mile 17. I still have no idea what happened or why it happened. At mile 18/19, I finally accepted reality and adjusted my goal of breaking my personal best time; realising that I wasn’t running for me, but for those recovering from stroke, and for all you guys who donated." Our late #mother suffered 3 strokes in her lifetime. The first, at the relatively young age of 49. Segun's ordeal does tell us something though. Very often in life, we appear to hit a brick wall. Nothing appears to be going according to plan. We're tired. We're fed up. We find ourselves at the edge of giving up. But then driven by a #goal that's bigger than ourselves, we forsake our personal comfort, endure the pain, temporarily lay down the limitations of our own ability, and soldier on. From no where but somehow, unseen forces show up to haul us across the #finish line. #londonmarathon #stroke #determination #victory

As part of its brand-new summer campaign, Tyre Safe (Charity registration 1168354) is warning drivers that summer could spell a stark rise in tyre-related incidents, as more Brits choose to staycation this year. There are more reported tyre-related incidents in summer than at any other time of the year, and longer journeys with extra loads in vehicles with defective tyres can result in catastrophic failures. TyreSafe is urging motorists to use the simple acronym ACT to stay tyre safe this summer. 🍀 ARE YOU DREAMING IN LIFE?  #BERLINSUB3 What are your biggest dreams? Dreams, you always dreamed about but thought they are too far away from reality? One of my biggest dreams in sports life was always to run a marathon under 3 hours. Everyone who ever completed a full marathon deserves a huge respect, that is clear! Running a fast marathon, that is a completely different level. I never thought that I could run faster than I did for many maaany years, but then, at some point, I started to improve. And I improved up to the point where my biggest dreams didn't seem to be that far away anymore. When dreams have the potential to turn into reality... you have to believe in them and you have to do all possible to try to accomplish them! Your mind can do miracles, and it is one of the most important elements on your journey, however mind alone will not make it happen. In sports, in life, overall, to accomplish your dreams it is not enough to dream and believe. You need a bit more. For those who know me reasonably well, you´ll know the cycling isn´t the greatest challenge here. I´m cycling to keep fit and because I simply like it. It's also an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. I wished I could cycle to work and home again more often, but with 110 miles each way, it´s been a once in the year effort in the past years.   However, I´m sure you´ll all agree the environment is something we could all do more to protect, whether it´s reducing CO2 emissions, help wild flora and fauna survive, help reduce sewage spills, or minimize microplastics in our oceans. We all read about floods here, and typhoons there, and other disasters. It´s all quite remote unless you´re in the middle of it, which fortunately most people are not, It´s thus easy to go about our daily lives, as we´ve done before, drive environmentally unfriendly cars and so on.   Like I, You may have noted the changes in your own immediate environment. Driving to work in the summer I notice that all the dead insects have disappeared from the windscreen. I notice I´m never seeing any wild animals about any longer, or very infrequently. The small deer on the British roads are almost always dead, and where´s all the squirrels and hedgehogs I used to see in my garden. They all seem to have disappeared.   Individually we can all do more for the environment, and we should. Cycle to work, put more refuse through to recycling, etc, but it’s only when governments and business makes the effort, we can accelerate change. After all, individually there only so much inconvenience we’ll accept. At Datapath we can ask our employees to inconvenience themselves and walk or cycle to work, or work from home, but the real change we can affect, perhaps by an order of magnitude or so, is by reducing the power consumption in the thousands of systems we sell, which typically operates 24/7 - 365 days a year. Likewise, if car and bus manufacturers make more fuel efficient and more electric vehicles, which we can charge at more places, the inconvenience is limited for the individual, and the rate of change for the benefit of the environment is greatly improved.   This is why advocacy for a better environment is so important. To combat misinformation, to effectively help politicians stand up for a better environment, to help drive stable, long term, consistent, environmental policies creating certainty for businesses that enables investments in better solutions for the environment.   This is why I’m helping raise money for Friends of the Earth. INDI to IBIZA 🌴 #EveryMileMatters Project Indi will embark on a challenge to move a distance of 1,477 miles – equivalent to the distance from The Indi Club to Ibiza Airport, in just ONE WEEK! The ultimate challenge will take place on April 20th to 26th, and we aim to collectively achieve our target through rowing, cycling, walking, or running. All funds raised will support Project Indi. Due to the cost-of-living crisis and escalating expenses, the cost of providing our services is at an all-time high. We need your support so we can continue to make a difference and support vulnerable adults and children in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.   Get involved! Can you help us reach our goal?
