Simply, the vote is about the voice of Aboriginal people being heard on matters that relate to their lives that is imbedded in our constitution and not reliant on what government is in power. For years Aboriginal people have been speaking about the justice space, health, Aboriginal housing and many others matters and saying that we continue to waste money on what doesn’t work and have provided ideas and initiatives on what will work which will cost far less and will bring change. But those voices have not been heard and we have continued to waste money.
