In celebration of Nurses Month, we're excited to shine a spotlight on one of our own nurses here at TotalMed! Meet Candy, TotalMed’s Vice President of Quality and Compliance for the past 2 years and a seasoned nurse with over 34 years of experience! She oversees critical areas including quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and professional oversight, ensuring TotalMed operates at the highest standards. With a passion for process improvement and a commitment to enhancing both patient outcomes and healthcare professionals' satisfaction, Candy’s role as a Nurse Leader continues to shape healthcare. Did you know her impressive background consists of not one, but TWO Master’s degrees (Nursing and HR), a Bachelor’s in Health Services Administration, as well as several certifications including risk management and lean healthcare practitioner? This incredible education and experience has been instrumental in Candy’s successful career. One of her most memorable achievements as a nurse leader includes successfully opening a new unit for ventilator-dependent residents with zero citations during inspection, a testament to her leadership and teamwork. Outside of work, Candy enjoys boating, exploring marine life, and spending time with her three dogs and family. Her dream to retire in Florida fits perfectly into her love for the water and boating! An animal advocate, a true libra and a collector of unique antiques, Candy's bright and cheerful personality shines through in every aspect of her life. We are so honored to have such an impactful Nurse Leader in our TotalMed family! Thank you Candy for all that you do. #NurseLeader #HealthcareExcellence #Inspiration

Unpopular opinion: Nurses should care about themselves more than their patients. Is this really an unpopular opinion? 🤔 We know we can’t take care of others if we aren’t in good condition ourselves. It’s like the airplane analogy, we are supposed to put on our own oxygen mask first, and then help others. Going to work feeling exhausted and drained doesn’t set us up to thrive in the way we likely desire to feel. The way we care for ourselves matters. As nurses, we are in many non-ordinary spaces and situations in our profession. Often, we are present for our patients and families in the most challenging and life-altering circumstances - from birth to death, and everything in between. These conditions have been normalized for nurses, and we want to remind nurses that protecting your health is important too. You matter! Your health matters! Your impact matters! What happens when we feel empowered to put ourselves first? We begin implementing strategies to prioritize our own health and happiness. This is what we often see transform in our students and graduates of the Comprehensive Holistic Nurse, Nurse Coach & Certifcate Program! You won’t be the same person, or the same nurse when you put yourself first. And everyone around you will benefit because of that! Comment “nurse” and we will send you a link with more information about our upcoming fall cohort of the Comprehensive Holistic Nurse, Nurse Coach & Consultant Certificate Program. #theciinde #holistichealth #holistichealing #holisticnurse #nursecoach #nurselife #nurseeducation

Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs pairing experienced nurses with new graduates or nursing students to provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Mentoring relationships foster growth, confidence, and leadership skills among nurses at all career stages. Community Outreach Events: Coordinate community outreach events, such as health screenings, educational workshops, or blood drives, led by nurses in partnership with local organizations. This demonstrates nurses' commitment to promoting health and wellness beyond the walls of the hospital. If this message has caught your eye, it’s because you, like many of us, hold our nurses in high regard. They are the unsung heroes of healthcare, and now is the perfect opportunity to express our collective appreciation. Take a moment to honor a nurse who has touched your life. It only takes two minutes to share your story of a nurse’s impact, but the recognition will last much longer. By participating, you’re not only acknowledging an individual nurse’s excellence but also contributing to a grander gesture of gratitude during International Nurses Week. We promise to craft a special tribute for each nurse mentioned, celebrating their commitment and compassion in a showcase of Stellar Nurses. Join us in this heartfelt initiative—because every nurse deserves to be celebrated. https://lnkd.in/ghs62Vmz More tomorrow. #nursesonlinkedin #nurseleadership #healthcare #nurseburnout #nursestress #nurses

NurseMomCoach Helping moms who are health professionals scale their skills to increase income with less time away from family.
Nurses have being deceived. I have being a nurse for over 10years and I have being made to believe that nurses can only work efficiently under a doctors decretion. The truth is that No that is not true. I was shocked when I saw the president of my organization and many other organizations in this part of the world to be NURSE with some other managerial certifications. Nurses are trailblazers, Nurses are better leaders, nurses are better marketers, Nurses are better Educators. Nurses are better finance Educators, Nurses are better managers. An average nurse any where in the world manages at least 3 to 8 patients and the worse case scenario is managing 12 to 15 patient within a 12 hours shift. And this patient will be handed over alive or save the patient from a near death situation, how much more when patient are giving non living things to manage. So when next you want to hire someone to manage your business or your client, Hire a Nurse. And to my dear nurses, you can do much more than a bedside nurse. Study more, get those certifications, discipline yourself. There is a bright future waiting for you. Follow FADEKEMI ODEWADE (FDK) for more valuable content. According to 2023 NSI National Healthcare Retention Report, the 32.3% represents first year turnover, which is higher than the national nurse #turnover rate of 22.5%. This trend represents a significant challenge for U.S healthcare facilities in retaining their recent hires. 🚨 🚨 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦* Yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending time with one of my nurse 'mentees'. They voiced to me they were interviewing for a new job after less than 1-year with their current department. The biggest reasons for wanting to move on were the lack of in-house mentorship, and opportunities for growth. ☎ 📲 As a seasoned nurse, educator, and retention consultant, I think to myself, if given the chance to work alongside this new nurse could I have prevented this turnover ? The answer is 𝐘𝐄𝐒; I could have kept this nurse in-house. 𝘏𝘰𝘸? 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴: 📆 EARLY retention strategies to reverse this trend. 📖CONSISTENT hands-on mentors and preceptors who are seasoned nurses. 💻 LISTEN to new nurses during FREQUENT meetings. This strategy sheds light on the type of environment an employer needs to create nowadays to retain new nurses. 📝 Build UNIQUE programs that offer endless opportunities for growth and learning. 🩺 UNDERSTAND. Just because a nurse decides to leave a unit does not mean they want to leave the company/facility. ✏ Above all, it is essential to ACCEPT that the needs of our newest nurses are different from those we experienced during our first years in nursing. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you'd like to discuss in more detail. 🤗 #nurseleaders #nurseeducation #nursesonlinkedin #retentionstrategies #nurseconsultant #mentorshipmatters #mentorship #newnursegrad
