TotalEnergies and SSE have formed a joint venture called Source to establish a high-power EV charging network in the #UK and #Ireland. The goal is to install 3,000 high-power charge points in both countries by deploying 300 charging hubs over the next five years, with each hub featuring charge points of 150kW or more. These hubs will be strategically located around urban areas and powered by renewable energy from SSE and #TotalEnergies, with the aim of achieving a 20% market share in the sector. The venture is part of TotalEnergies' strategy to expand its network in Europe and establish a strong position in high-power charging, while #SSE sees it as a way to accelerate the decarbonization of the transport system. The UK government also supports the initiative, emphasizing its potential to boost consumer confidence in EV charging and increase the adoption of electric vehicles. Last week the UK officially launched the National Energy System Operator (NESO) in a bid to support the UK in our transition to net-zero, providing strategic guidance to ensure our energy infrastructure remains reliable and secure.   It’s a much needed step in the right direction, a single coordinated body who can advise on strategy and policy is something the UK has been lacking thus far, often leading to confusion or conflicting information being circulated.   NESO will be working alongside Government, regulators, the wider industry and the general public to facilitate a safe, secure and affordable energy system is in place, that is also capable of supporting net-zero.   I for one welcome the cohesive approach that NESO aim to deliver, the transition to clean power by 2030 and net-zero by 2050 feels much more achievable if we are collectively working together in the same direction.   https://lnkd.in/e8Zj2ndu   #NESO #netzero #cleanpower #renewableenergy #enerytransition #cleanenergy

In its Energy Transition Strategy 2024 report, Shell announced that it was planning to divest 1,000 of its retail gas stations (including joint ventures) between 2024 and 2025.
