At G2V we are proud to share the fantastic work some of our fellow Canadians are doing in the solar renewables industry. Rayleigh Solar Tech out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia are working towards making the world a little greener by moving thin film commercial manufacturing closer to reality. Once perfected they will truly live up to the motto of "Put Solar on Everything"! It is no small feat Paul Pynn, Sam March, Dane George, P.Eng., MASc and their team of brilliant minds behind the movement of creating thin lightweight perovskite solar cells. They have met the same challenges any tech startup would experience and the nuances that come with the thin film solar. In spite of these challenges, they have rolled through them with determination and have continued to grow their team. We were fortunate enough to score some one on one time with Eric Bergmann and Ajan Ramachandran who shared Rayleigh's story in the budding world of commercial thin film. So next time you are looking at the technological marvels our world has created take a moment and ask yourself: What would solar look like on that? Because before you know it, it will have become a reality. Want to learn more about the challenges they face scaling up thin film commercial manufacturing? Our latest report on the biggest opportunities in the growth of #cleantech supply chains in Australia features a key player in this space - Energy Renaissance, a #battery manufacturer proudly Australian-owned and based in the #HunterValley. Energy Renaissance now operates Australia's first #lithium-ion gigafactory and has taken a two-stage approach to realising its goal of an all-Australian 'mineral to manufacture and #export' model. The gigafactory, known as Renaissance One, was built in Tomago in the Hunter Valley in 2021. It currently employs 25 FTE staff and at capacity will manufacture 1,020 MWh per year. Energy Renaissance is currently the only Australian company actively pursuing this large-scale end-to-end model. Their overarching ambition is that every part of their battery system will be manufactured here in Australia. The opportunities are many – from fortifying Australia against global #supplychain disruptions, to leveraging its vast natural #resources to create substantial employment and economic opportunities. The world’s clean #technology future can be made in Australia. Bold action to boost Australian #manufacturing capabilities and grow five onshore cleantech supply chains could generate up to $215 billion in cumulative revenue and create up to 53,000 additional ongoing jobs by 2035. As we dive deeper into the fascinating realm of tech trends, I would like to discuss some innovations in Thermal Energy Storage (TES) that are turning heads and sparking possibilities for the high-heat industries. I recently came across a captivating report by Cleantech Group that sheds light on the latest developments in TES. Thermal Energy Storage seems to finally capture more traction. By witnessing their growing maturity, it is clear to me that these advancements can have strong impact on solving the industrial heat challenge. What's particularly exhilarating are the advancements coming from companies like KRAFTBLOCK 🇩🇪 Antora Energy 🇺🇸 Rondo Energy 🇺🇸 and Malta Inc 🇺🇸, all with upcoming commercial energy storage installations. It looks to me as of these solutions have finally breached the cost efficiency threshold needed for effective deployment. I am actively monitoring the TES with its vast decarbonization and grid reselience components, although our own VC thesis emphasizes more asset light business models. Did I miss any company I should be aware of? Your thoughts and insights are highly valuable! #TechTrends #ThermalEnergyStorage #Climatech #FutureEnergy #Innovation #StartUpManagement #SustainableFuture #GridLoadShifting

HHE was recognized as the 2023 winner of the #Innovative #Tech Company of the Year at the 13th annual Pacific Edge Business Achievement Awards Gala in Honolulu, Hawai’i. With operations in #California, Hawai’i, Wisconsin, and Shanghai, HHE engineers proprietary storage system and control platform solutions, including a breakthrough HHE “#EnergyCluster” technology that is key to the development of the Multi-Dwelling Unit Residential housing market that uniquely allows for sharing amongst local units of excess energy created by #solarenergy production. This technology uniquely solves the key problems for installing solar energy for #MDU tenant units: tenant load variability and tenant churn. Thus, HHE is essentially good for all parties. It is a vital partner for investors and asset owners who are seeking MDU #renewableenergy solutions that create a new and significant multi-year revenue stream. For tenants, the adoption is non-disruptive and, in practice, allows for #energycontrol and #localized resiliency. https://lnkd.in/geV3s53r
