Over time, the use of the centralized scheduling system of the ONLY rail lift bridge that cross over the second narrow of the Port of Vancouver, this will INCREASE the total rail capacity available to serve the Port’s North Shore bulk export terminals (ex; exports of Prairies Grain, BC coal, SK potash, AB Sulphur ) Especailly so during the leisure crafts ( tall sail ) seasonal peack and from the start of the 2025 new TransMontain crude pipeline operation, which will load crude tankers from the terminal located inside the Second Narrow. When the rail bridge is lifted up, to enable empty and loaded ships passages underneath, no freight trains can serve the north shore supply chains of the port.
A first for Canada Port Authorities: As of this week, we’re actively coordinating the movements of commercial ships in the Second Narrows (Burrard Inlet) using the centralized scheduling system developed as part of our Active Vessel Traffic Management Program. Every year, we’ll use this cutting-edge system to sequence more than 1,000 ship transits through this busy and complex waterway for increased safety and port fluidity. The new scheduling system increases visibility into the supply chains, enabling both the port authority and partnering agencies to better collaborate, prevent, and address bottlenecks. Over time, the use of the centralized scheduling system at the Port of Vancouver will help increase the reliability and competitivity of our supply chains and minimize the impacts of trade on local communities and the environment. Originally focused on remote northern regions and Arctic resource development, the NSR now plays a vital role in connecting Russia’s west and east, reshaping logistics toward the east. The government’s plan, discussed at the forum, includes 155 actions, emphasizing cargo base formation, maritime safety, and fleet construction. By 2024, an estimated 80 million tons of cargo will move via NSR, rising to 150 million tons by 2030. 🚢🌊 #CCBLR https://lnkd.in/ewDs7c7J
