This was a well moderated discussion with varying view points shared. Some notable points where 1) We need more incentive for collection systems and behaviour change towards segregation and not so much recycling. 2) Technology for recycling is the easier part, getting clean segregated feedstock for recycling is a big challenge. 3) Recycled materials should not have to compete on pricing with virgin polymer. 4) Indore model has been difficult to replicate but has to be. 5) Governance frameworks need to improve a lot 6) Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) has a lot to improve still. Do keep engaged in the discussion. #wastemanagement #recycling #extendedproducerresponsibility #swachhbharat

📖 Sustainable Plastic Packaging in India 2023 - Outcome Report available 📖 🇬🇧🇮🇳 At Innovate UK, we deliver #GlobalExpertMissions to bring back insights from all over the world. The Global Expert Missions (GEM) programme aims to create global growth opportunities for UK innovation through strategically aligned partnerships with the right businesses in the right countries. Innovate UK worked closely with key stakeholders including UKRI India, WRAP and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to organise a Global Expert Mission to India in May 2023. Leveraging UKRI-funded India Plastics Pact (IPP), the Circular Plastics Global Expert Mission (GEM) brought together key stakeholders from the plastic sector to investigate the research and innovation ecosystem in India’s circular plastics sector and economy. The Mission to India provided an opportunity to showcase many of the innovation technologies that the UK are spearheading through Innovate UK and its Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging Challenge (SSPP) in the field of circular plastics. 🌍 Exciting Times for Plastic Recycling and Sustainability in India! 🌍 I recently attended the GCPRS - Global Conclave on Plastics Recycling and Sustainability, and it was an eye-opening experience! The discussions on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) are driving significant change in the industry, pushing us towards more sustainable practices. EPR is not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a catalyst for innovation and growth. It’s inspiring to see how companies are now more motivated than ever to innovate, reduce waste, and create sustainable products. It was wonderful hearing the industry insights from the industry experts from Sorema div. of Previero N. srl, EREMA Group , PiovanGroup and Ishitva Robotic Systems This shift opens up incredible opportunities for new technologies and business models in plastic recycling and sustainability. The conclave highlighted the importance of collaboration between governments, industries, and consumers to achieve our sustainability goals. It’s clear that with the right efforts and innovations, we can make a substantial impact on our environment. Looking forward to seeing how this industry evolves and contributes to a greener future. Let’s keep pushing boundaries and making a difference! #Sustainability #PlasticRecycling #EPR #Innovation #GreenFuture #GlobalConclave #StreeSanman

Plastics Recycling Show India is the country's first event dedicated to catalysing the plastics recycling revolution in India. It comes armed with a global vision and the aim to bring together and legitimise an already rapidly growing industry. It is a forward-thinking approach where pressing challenges and opportunities within the plastic recycling industry are addressed and discussed with peers from the industry driving collective action. Our first PRSI roundtable had an eclectic mix of industry leaders, experts, policymakers, and innovators coming together to exchange ideas, explore emerging trends, technologies, and discuss the way forward for the future. The platform served as a centre stage for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and collaborate on solutions to pressing challenges. The solutions that arose from this roundtable have only cemented the need to continue to have such conversations around plastics recycling and engage stakeholders. Here's a small glimpse of what went on. #prsi #plasticrecycling #firstroundtable #india #wastemanagement #recyclingsolutions #2024events #discussion #conferences #network
