With drastically changing global markets, 2024 has started off with a racing start for the seafood business world. 🔥 In one month, we’ve already seen a number of companies get acquired and another handful of companies that have publicly announced they are up for sale. 💰 Additionally, the Veterinary Institute of Norway released their numbers on annual mortality trends in Norway, and the data paints a picture of the challenges farmers are facing across the industry. Whats the path forward? Is there any way to improve animal welfare in the short term looking forward? 💡 This on episode of Manolin Inc.'s Fish n’ Bits, I look into these questions and what the business environment current looks like: • Norwegian Veterinary Institute reports that a record number of salmon died last year at historically high rates • Merck's record $1.3B acquisition of Elanco Aqua • Public announcements of STIM, Benchmark Holdings plc, and Atlantic Sapphire going up for sale • Early January acquisitions by Cooke Inc. and Lerøy Seafood Group ASA to vertically integrated their businesses more Tune in below to listen! 👇 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gAm485Av Apple: https://lnkd.in/g37z-xDw #fishhealth #salmon #norway #aquaculture #seafoodindustry

While not significant, it's interesting to see that the average in Norway seems to be increasing slowly.

Love seeing this! Mortality rates about postrelease of salmon/steelhead here in the PNW is not easy to find. Wish we had easy access to something like to every day fishermen.
